    NFL Week 2 Injury Tracker

New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys

Saints: Head coach Dennis Allen said Fuaga, New Orleans’ first-round rookie left tackle, is dealing with back tightness and could still suit up for Week 1. Lattimore also sounds like a game-time decision.

Cowboys: Ferguson initially thought he tore his ACL on Sunday and put the pain of his knee injury at a “10.” While he hasn’t practiced this week, Ferguson was fortunate to escape with a bone bruise that he doesn’t “even think is a Grade 1.”

He’s unlikely to play against New Orleans but could return soon. Jerry Jones said he expects Ferguson to play against the Ravens in Week 3.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions

Buccaneers: Tampa Bay got an easy win over the Commanders in Week 1, but a bevy of injuries turned Sunday’s game into something of a Pyrrhic victory.

Goedeke is the Bucs’ only injured offensive player, but he’s a significant member of the club’s offensive line. Backup Justin Skule represents a notable downgrade against Aidan Hutchinson and Co.

On defense, Winfield is set to miss multiple weeks with an ankle and foot sprain. McCollum and Smith — both starters in the secondary — are questionable. Kancey missed Week 1 and didn’t practice this week.

Lions: Williams, whose 5-121-1 performance on Sunday night represented the best game of his career, was limited all week. Nothing suggests the former first-round pick won’t suit up in Week 2.

Sewell, the NFL’s best right tackle, didn’t practice until a limited Friday session. Davenport posted six pressures in his Lions debut but didn’t practice all week.

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers

Colts: Downs was a limited practice participating for the second straight day on Thursday as he recovers from a high-ankle sprain he suffered in training camp. The second-year WR could be on track to make his 2024 debut against Green Bay.

Paye, Buckner, and Blackmon failed to practice on Thursday. The Colts are facing a reduced Packers team with Malik Willis replacing the injured Love, but they won’t want to be without two of their best pass rushers and a starting safety.

Indy will be without starting cornerback JuJu Brents for the rest of the season after he suffered a knee injury against the Texans on Sunday. Brents, who played 59 defensive snaps in Week 2, will be replaced by one of Dallis Flowers, Samuel Womack III, or Chris Lammons.

Packers: Green Bay isn’t officially ruling Love out for Week 2 after he sprained his MCL last Friday. Asked if the door remains open for Love to suit up against the Colts, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said, “I’d say it’s pretty open.”

It’s difficult to imagine Green Bay risking Love’s health so soon after his injury, and he didn’t participate in practice all week. Willis still looks like the overwhelming favorite to start.

With Love sidelined, the Packers may have to lean on Jacobs’ rushing prowess for a few weeks. He’s questionable, but he practiced every day this week, albeit in a limited capacity.

Green Bay added Reed to its injury report on Friday before listing him as questionable. Reed, who was limited Friday, totaled 171 yards from scrimmage and scored two touchdowns in the Packers’ Week 1 loss to the Eagles.

New York Jets at Tennessee Titans

    • Jets: EDGE Micheal Clemons, QUESTIONABLE (triceps); CB D.J. Reed, QUESTIONABLE (knee)
    • Titans: No notable injuries.

Jets: Reed was downgraded to DNP on Friday after practicing on a limited basis early in the week. While head coach Robert Saleh said Thursday that he expects Reed to play, New York might have to consider other options.

    Titans: No notable injuries.

San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings

49ers: McCaffrey’s early August injury popped back up last weekend and kept the NFL’s best running back out of Week 1. It will also prevent him from suiting up in Week 2.

“My mentality is I’m playing this week,” McCaffrey said on Wednesday. Still, the 49ers will exude caution with their star playmaker.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday that the club is not ruling out an injured reserve stint for CMC. Shanahan stated earlier this week that IR was not a consideration for McCaffrey, but the club’s thinking has since changed.

CMC was a limited practice participant on Wednesday and Thursday. However, he was not spotted at the beginning of Friday’s practice.

49ers backup RB Jordan Mason took 28 attempts for 147 yards and one touchdown in San Francisco’s Monday night win over the Jets.

Vikings: Addison didn’t practice this week and won’t play Sunday after injuring his ankle in Week 1. The 2023 first-round pick hurt his right ankle last week after dealing with a left ankle injury during the summer. With Addison sidelined, Jailen Nailor will be Minnesota’s WR2.

O’Neill, Ingram, and Smith all popped up on Minnesota’s injury report during the week. The linemen were limited on Friday, but Smith didn’t practice.

Seattle Seahawks at New England Patriots

Seahawks: Walker told reporters, “I’m good,” after departing Sunday’s win over the Broncos with a fourth-quarter oblique injury, but he didn’t practice all week. Zach Charbonnet is next up on the Seahawks’ RB depth chart.

Fant is considered doubtful, which opens the door for Stone Forsythe to get the start at right tackle.

Nwosu sprained his MCL in the Seahawks’ preseason finale on Aug. 24 and was expected to miss two to six weeks. He didn’t practice Wednesday, and neither did Dodson.

Patriots: Sow was the only injured New England player ruled out ahead of Week 1, and he was the only Pat not practicing this week.

New York Giants at Washington Commanders

    • Giants: WR Gunner Olszewski, OUT (groin); LB Darius Muasau, OUT (knee); CB Nick McCloud, OUT (knee)
    • Commanders: DT Jer’Zhan Newton, QUESTIONABLE (foot); EDGE Clelin Ferrell, QUESTIONABLE (knee); CB Emmanuel Forbes, OUT (thumb); S Quan Martin, QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)

Giants: Although WR Malik Nabers (knee) popped up on New York’s Thursday injury report, head coach Brian Daboll said the first-round rookie wideout has been cleared for Sunday’s game. He was formally removed from the club’s injury report on Friday.

Muasau and McCloud both started the Giants’ Week 1 loss to the Vikings.

Commanders: Forbes, Washington’s 2023 first-round pick, underwent surgery for a torn UCL this week. The Commanders haven’t placed him on IR.

Los Angeles Chargers at Carolina Panthers

Chargers: Palmer was limited on Wednesday and Thursday; he didn’t practice on Friday. He started for the Bolts in Week 1 but was ejected in the fourth quarter after a fight. Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston should be in line for more targets if Palmer can’t play, while sixth-round rookie WR Brenden Rice — a healthy scratch in Week 1 — might be active in that scenario.

Bosa was limited to begin the week but took a step backward, failing to practice on Thursday or Friday. Gilman never practiced this week and seems highly unlikely to suit up in Week 2.

Panthers: Every injured Carolina player was at least a limited participant on Friday.

    Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars

Browns: Cleveland ruled out Njoku early in the week after he suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1. The Browns only have one other tight end — Jordan Akins — on their 53-man roster but will elevate one or multiple of Geoff Swaim, Cameron Latu, or Blake Whiteheart from the practice squad before Sunday’s game.

Cleveland sent starting safety Juan Thornhill (calf) to injured reserve this week; he’ll be out for at least four games. DT Maurice Hurst (ankle) and LBs Tony Fields (ankle) and Mohamoud Diabate also went to IR.

Jaguars: Jacksonville placed CB1 Tyson Campbell (hamstring) on injured reserve on Thursday, so he will miss at least four weeks. Campbell, the Jags’ best defensive player not named Josh Hines-Allen, missed six games with hamstring problems in 2023.

Montaric Brown will replace Campbell, while third-round rookie Jarrian Jones will likely handle the slot on Sunday with Savage sidelined.

Las Vegas Raiders at Baltimore Ravens

    • Raiders: G Jackson Powers-Johnson, QUESTIONABLE (illness); EDGE Tyree Wilson, OUT (knee); CB Decamerion Richardson, OUT (hamstring)
    • Ravens: EDGE Kyle Van Noy, QUESTIONABLE (eye); EDGE Adisa Isaac, DOUBTFUL (hamstring); CB Nate Wiggins, OUT (neck)

Raiders: Powers-Johnson missed his NFL debut in Week 1 but has a chance to suit up against Baltimore on Sunday. He’ll be a game-time decision, but Cody Whitehair will start at left guard regardless.

Ravens: Van Noy suffered a fractured orbital bone in the Ravens’ season opener, and Wiggins was involved in a car crash on Wednesday. While the first-round rookie cornerback wasn’t seriously injured, he won’t face Las Vegas on Sunday.

Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals

    • Rams: TE Davis Allen, DOUBTFUL (back); G Kevin Dotson, QUESTIONABLE (ankle); CB Cobie Durant; QUESTIONABLE (toe); S Quentin Lake; QUESTIONABLE (hip)
    • Cardinals: WR Xavier Murray, QUESTIONABLE (oblique); CB Max Melton, QUESTIONABLE (concussion)

Rams: Los Angeles placed WR Puka Nacua (knee), G Steve Avila (knee), and OT Joe Noteboom (ankle) on IR this week, so each will miss at least four games. But those aren’t the only injuries Sean McVay and Co. are dealing with.

Dotson hasn’t practiced this week, while right tackle Rob Havenstein (ankle) was limited in practice but won’t carry an injury designation for Week 2. Jonah Jackson was the only member of the Rams’ initial starting five who was fully practicing.

Cardinals: Arizona placed starting right tackle Jonah Williams (knee) on IR this week. He’ll be replaced by veteran Kelvin Beachum.

    Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos

Steelers: Russell Wilson was limited all week, but Justin Fields will be Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback on Sunday.

Broncos: Vele caught eight passes for 39 yards in his NFL debut on Sunday but won’t play in Week 2. Denver also placed fourth-round rookie RB Audric Estime (ankle) on IR this week.

Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs

Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase, limited by food poisoning and an ongoing contract dispute heading into Week 1, fully practiced all week.

The same can’t be said for Higgins, who missed Cincinnati’s season-opening loss to the Patriots with a hamstring injury. The Bengals’ WR2 didn’t practice all week and is considered doubtful for Sunday, and that’s probably optimistic.

Higgins missed Weeks 9-11 last year with a right hamstring injury. He injured his left hamstring in a Week 17 loss at Kansas City on New Year’s Eve. Higgins tried to come back into that game but couldn’t finish, and he sat out the meaningless season finale against the Browns.

Chiefs: Kansas City WR Hollywood Brown needs surgery for the dislocated SC joint in his shoulder and is headed to injured reserve. Brown reportedly would have risked “a more serious long-term injury” by not having a procedure. He’ll be required to miss at least four games, but Brown could be sidelined for the rest of the 2024 season.

On Friday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Brown’s return timeline will be measured in “months, not weeks.” Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are Patrick Mahomes’ primary wide receivers.

Chicago Bears at Houston Texans (SNF)

Bears: Neither Allen nor Odunze practiced on Wednesday or Thursday. While Odunze returned for a limited Friday session, Allen remained sidelined.

Tyler Scott and DeAndre Carter will fill in behind Chicago WR1 DJ Moore if neither Allen nor Odunze can play against Houston on Sunday night.

Texans: Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale will backup RB Joe Mixon if Pierce (a Friday DNP) can’t play. Scruggs didn’t practice Friday either, so Jarrett Patterson could start at center for Houston.

Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles (MNF)

Falcons: Landman was Atlanta’s only player not practicing on Friday.

Eagles: Philadelphia added Brown to its injury report on Friday, suggesting the WR1 may have tweaked his hamstring during practice. He was limited today, making his status for the Eagles’ Saturday practice a must-watch.
