Monday Night Football tonight will showcase two NFC East teams when the Dallas Cowboys travel to New York to take on the Giants. In the last game of Week 3, there are a number of big names sitting on the NFL inactives list. What do each team’s final injury reports look like, and who might end up inactive for this showdown?
Note that we will update this article as teams announce their official inactives closer to game time, which will be around 6:45 p.m. ET.
NFL inactives for Monday Night Football
With each team permitted to have 48 players dress for a game (but often having 53 or more players available), teams must name any above that 48-person threshold as inactive. Which players will not be active for this Cowboys vs. Giants matchup?
The below players were on the final injury reports with the listed designations. Ninety minutes before kickoff, the teams will officially announce their inactives.
Dallas Cowboys inactives
- S Jayron Kearse
- G Connor McGovern
- QB Dak Prescott
- CB Nahshon Wright
- WR Michael Gallup
- LB Luke Gifford
- TE Dalton Schultz
New York Giants inactives
- WR Wan’Dale Robinson
- CB Aaron Robinson
- CB Justin Layne
- CB Nick McCloud
- WR Kadarius Toney
- DE Leonard Williams
- LB Tomon Fox
Impactful names on NFL injury reports
There are quite a few marquee names on the injury reports for both of these teams. The Cowboys have two offensive starters that we will need to monitor closely in TE Dalton Schultz and WR Michael Gallup.
Gallup, who is trying to make his return from an ACL injury, got in a full week of practice for the first time this year. However, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is now reporting that he is likely to be inactive for tonight’s Monday Night Football game.
This is a bit surprising based on Gallup’s participation in practice this week, but the team is likely being extra cautious due to the nature of his injury. With Gallup out, that makes Schultz’s availability all that more important.
The star tight end has been the focal point of this offense with Gallup sidelined and fellow WR CeeDee Lamb seeing double coverage most of the time. Pelissero is reporting that Schultz will test his knee, but it is also unlikely he plays tonight.
On the defensive side of the ball for Dallas, last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year LB Micah Parsons has missed time this week due to a non-Covid-related illness. However, it looks like he will be good to go in this one.
For New York, it looks like they will be without two of their offensive weapons in WRs Wan’Dale Robinson and Kadarius Toney. Robinson has already been ruled out, and Toney is listed as doubtful.
More importantly, though, two of their star pass rushers, Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux, are currently listed as questionable. Those will be names to monitor as we approach kickoff, especially if the Giants want to take advantage of a banged-up Cowboys offensive line.
