NFL General Managers Fired Today | Monday, January 9

Just as the head coach carousel in the NFL begins to spin immediately following the end of the regular season, so too does the carousel of general managers and league executives. The 2022-2023 season is no exception, as we already have movement around the league’s front offices.

Steve Keim Will Not Return to GM Role in Arizona

Former Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim took an indefinite leave of absence earlier during the 2022 season. That leave of absence will become permanent, as Keim will step away to focus on his health.

Owner Michael Bidwill will begin a search for a new general manager to pair with a new head coach. The team parted ways with head coach Kliff Kingsbury following the end of the regular season. Keim, however, may stay with the franchise in another capacity.

Both Keim and Kingsbury had signed extensions in 2022 that were set to keep them in Arizona through the 2027 season, but both won’t be back in their respective roles just one year later.

Keim finishes his tenure as the Cardinals’ GM (a role he’d held since 2013) with an 80-80 record, three playoff appearances, and one NFC West crown.
