The NFL regular season typically kicks off with a standard three-day schedule as fans enjoy the return of professional football on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday. However, in 2024, the league switched things up with a first-of-its-kind international matchup.

Are There Any NFL Games Today? How To Watch the First-Ever NFL Game in South America
The NFL International Series started in 2007 and has expanded to four countries, with games played or scheduled in England, Mexico, Germany, and Brazil.
In 2024, the NFL will have five international matchups: tonight’s matchup in Brazil, three in London, and one in Munich. The league will increase that total to eight games in 2025 and enter at least one new market, with a matchup planned in Madrid, Spain.
As for the NFL game today, the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles trekked to Corinthians Stadium as the pair of 2023 NFC postseason competitors prepare to get their regular season underway on Friday night.
With high expectations for both franchises in place for 2024, here’s how to watch the NFL games tonight.

After a rough start to the 2023 campaign, QB Jordan Love and the Packers turned things around to make the playoffs.
In Love’s first actual stint of action as Green Bay’s starting QB, the team went 2-5 to start 2023, including a four-game losing streak. The Packers would turn things around, though, winning six of their last eight games and clinching an NFC Wild Card berth.
With an entire season under his belt, Love looks to build upon a career year in 2024, especially after inking an extension that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback.
While the Lions are still the presumed favorites in the NFC North, the Packers are also a contender for the division title. However, not only does Love get an extra year of experience, but the Packers also return a receiving core that had an entire season with Love to establish chemistry.
Jayden Reed led Green Bay in receiving his rookie season and should only continue to develop. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs return, and Dontayvion Wicks rounds out the group.
While Watson saw a drop in production from 2022, Doubs improved on his rookie campaign with Love at the helm. Can the Packers’ passing offense put everything together with four quality WRs at their disposal?
Green Bay did suffer an offseason loss as seven-year RB Aaron Jones signed with the division-rival Minnesota Vikings in free agency. With a void to fill, the Packers made a notable free agent signing in former Las Vegas Raider Josh Jacobs, who is the team’s new RB1.
That won’t be the only change to the rushing attack, as Green Bay placed AJ Dillon on IR with a neck injury last week. This move could result in 2024 third-round RB MarShawn Lloyd receiving a lot more snaps than he was expecting during his rookie campaign, as well as a chance to steal Dillon’s RB2 spot. Dillon becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
Will these changes help the Packers take the next step?
As for Philadelphia, a Week 1 win could not be more crucial after the way the Eagles’ 2023 season crashed and burned.
After a 10-1 start, the Eagles lost five of their last regular-season games, let the Cowboys steal the NFC East title from them, and then lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the Wild Card round.
Now, with the previous offensive and defensive coordinators fired and replaced, will head coach Nick Sirianni be able to salvage his reputation after a strenuous offseason?
Thankfully, the coordinators who were brought in should take some of the weight off his shoulders. Kellen Moore will take over as offensive coordinator, while Vic Fangio will take over the defense.
The coaching improvements should help Sirianni, but the most important goal for this season and his future is repairing the relationship with QB Jalen Hurts.
At many points last season, the Eagles’ offense looked disjointed and not on the same page despite being loaded with talent at every position. If Moore can help bridge the gap between Hurts and Sirianni, Philadelphia could be looking at another trip to the Super Bowl.
The Eagles continue to sculpt an offensive powerhouse with new weapons like free agent RB Saquon Barkley and recent trade acquisition WR Jahan Dotson. However, Hurts might see some growing pains along what was once the best offensive line in the league.
Center Jason Kelce, the heart and soul of the unit, retired in the offseason.
Philadelphia will have two new starters on the line, with Jurgens taking over at center and offseason acquisition Mekhi Becton filling in at right guard. While Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, and Jordan Mailata all return in their same spots, there will be a difference when losing someone as vital as Kelce.
It will be interesting to see how much the shuffle affects the rushing attack.
