NFL Games Today: Is There Thursday Night Football Tonight?

NFL Games Today: Is There Thursday Night Football Tonight?

The Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs has come and gone, and now only four teams remain in the quest for the Lombardi Trophy. Is there a Thursday Night Football game tonight, or do we need to wait for the weekend for more NFL action?

NFL Games Today: A Return for Thursday Night Football?

No, there are no NFL games today. Thursday Night Football came to an end back in Week 17, and we will not see it again until the 2023 NFL season kicks off. However, just because there is no football tonight, doesn’t mean that we can’t look ahead to what is shaping up to be an exciting Conference Championship Weekend.

With only four teams remaining, obviously, there are two more games before the Super Bowl 57 participants are revealed. Unlike most of the playoffs, the Conference Championship round takes place solely on a Sunday.

The first game of the weekend will be the NFC Championship between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. Brock Purdy will take his already legendary story into Lincoln Financial Field to try and upset an Eagles team that is seemingly playing their best football right now.

Coming off a 38-7 beatdown of the New York Giants in the Divisional Round, Jalen Hurts and this Eagles offense look to be right back on track. However, it’s going to be a different story against San Francisco. The 49ers rank near the top in every important defensive metric and have caused havoc for opposing QBs this season. Sorry Giants fans, but the 49ers are simply a step up in competition for Philly.

Meanwhile, on the AFC side of things, we have the surging Cincinnati Bengals heading to Arrowhead to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The biggest question mark in this game is the health of QB Patrick Mahomes. During the team’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain that clearly limited him.

However, head coach Andy Reid and even Mahomes himself have continued to downplay the injury. If the Chiefs want to reverse their current losing streak against Joe Burrow, they will need their QB to be 100%.

The Bengals come into this game with a ton of momentum after dominating the Buffalo Bills last week. In a cold, snowy showdown, Cincinnati looked like the better team in all facets of the game. And even though there were concerns about what the Bengals’ offensive line might look like after suffering a ton of injuries, Burrow seemed to have all the time in the world to make plays.

Now, Burrow heads into Arrowhead, where he looks to extend his win streak to 4-0 against the Chiefs. If he can do that, the Bengals will be punching their ticket to their second straight Super Bowl appearance.
