Fans Rate Rob Gronkowski Above Travis Kelce

On Monday Night Football in Week 9, Kelce became the oldest player (35 years old) to snag 14 catches in a single game in the Chiefs’ 30-24 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fans on social media were quick to draw comparisons between Kelce and legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski. While Kelce’s heroics on the field over the years need no introduction, many insist that “Gronk” still stands at the top.

Kelce’s milestone came as Kansas City continued to push its unbeaten record on the season. And the veteran tight end continues to play a crucial role as Patrick Mahomes’ go-to target.

But fans on social media weren’t all applauding.

“Just here to say Gronk is better,” wrote one fan.

“Gronk was injured most of his career and retired early asf tbh gronk still the goat te but kelce up there top 3,” said another.

Another argued: “Ain’t no one turning down a prime Gronk for a prime Kelce.”

One more declared: “Don’t care Gronk better”

One X user said: “NOBODY can compare to Gronk”

Another NFL enthusiast wrote: “Gronk always had 3 defenders on him. Kelce has never had to be the guy like Gronk had to.”

“Here’s the thing. Kelce obviously is the better route runner and has more yards and stats and such blah blah blah. But if you had one TE to pick for one play to win the game both in their prime I think the answer is pretty obvious. Not a single defender could cover prime Gronk,” wrote another X user.

The comparisons highlight how Gronkowski, who retired with four Super Bowl rings, remains the benchmark for several fans when it comes to toughness and reliability.

With Taylor Swift cheering him on from the stands, Kelce continues to deliver for Chiefs Kingdom. But as his accomplishments pile up, fans will keep debating whether he’s earned the “GOAT” title — or if that honor remains reserved for Gronkowski.

The Chiefs look primed to make a run at NFL history by securing a three-peat, further elevating Kelce’s legacy.
