The Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes are currently on a four-game win streak. With their playoff hopes still alive, many are hoping to see more of quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver Travis Hunter, both of whom have been at the helm for their team’s success. Since the beginning of the campaign, the two have been projected as Round 1 picks by multiple media outlets.
However, after their win against the Utah Utes in Week 12, their draft stock has risen exponentially, and they are now the top two picks in ESPN’s latest mock draft by analyst Matt Miller.
Sanders is projected to go No. 1 overall to the New York Giants via a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Hunter is expected to go second to the Cleveland Browns. However, fans remain uncertain these are the teams the players will end up with.
In addition to Miller, both prospects went high in Pro Football Network’s most recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
Fans React to Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Projection
There’s speculation that Coach Prime may prevent his son from being selected by certain teams. Some think he might follow the same pattern as Archie and Eli Manning in 2004. Back then, Eli was a top pick, but he and his father said he wouldn’t play for the San Diego Chargers, who held the first pick, because of concerns about the organization.

Since Super Bowl 46, the New York Giants have gone 78-126-1 with the fourth-worst win percentage (38.3%) in the league. Given this, Deion could want his son to play for a team that can bring out his potential, and the Giants don’t seem to be in that position.
“I don’t think Prime allows his son to go to the NYG,” a fan said.
“Yeah Deion pulling [an] Archie,” another fan commented.

“Hell no! [Shedeur] will not play for the Giants unless they hire [Detroit Lions OC] Ben Johnson,” a fan said.
The Browns last won a division title in 1989, when they were in the AFC Central, the precursor to today’s AFC North, sparking some pushback for the Hunter-to-Cleveland angle as well.
“Travis nor Shedeur will be in Cleveland. I can guarantee you that lol,” a fan wrote.
Another fan mentioned the absence of Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty‘s name from the list, who has been a fan favorite this season. This year, the Heisman contender has 10 games with 100+ rushing yards, six games over 150, and four over 200.
“Where is the best player in college football Jeanty? Best player not a top 5 pick?” a fan chimed in.
A fan was excited that Colorado would be the second school since 1984 to have the first two picks in the NFL Draft.
“Epic!! This would be huge for Buffs Nation!! 💯💪#SkoBuffs,” a fan wrote.
The Browns, Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders are all looking for a quarterback and might trade up to draft Shedeur. While he’s had more turnovers this season compared to last, he’s displayed an electric play style in Colorado’s last few games.
As for Hunter, he’s among the top cornerbacks in the country, with great control and skill to make big plays on offense. Any team would be lucky to have him, but his desire to play both ways might deter some.
Where Did Hunter and Sanders Go in PFN’s Mock Draft?
Well, it wasn’t first and second, but both Hunter and Sanders went high in Kyle Yates’ mock. Hunter was the first overall pick to the Jaguars, while Sanders fell to fifth to the Raiders, a landing spot the young QB has been rumored to be eyeing all season. Here is what PFN had to say about both picks.
1) Jacksonville Jaguars: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
“The Jaguars have plenty of needs, which is not abnormal for a team that is set to pick No. 1 overall for the third time in five years. So, a trade-down scenario here is ideal. However, in this mock draft, we’re sticking with the current draft order that’s set by team records through 11 weeks.
With that in mind, the Jaguars go out and get arguably the most talented player in this entire draft, Colorado CB/WR Hunter. Hunter is a truly absurd athlete who plays both offense and defense at Colorado while putting on a show no matter where he’s lined up.
He projects best as a CB at the next level, but he could easily slide in as a WR on set plays here or there. His quickness, strength, and ball skills will make him one of the more promising defensive players in the entire league from the moment he sets foot on the field, and Jacksonville desperately needs a player with his true talent on their roster.”
5) Las Vegas Raiders: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
“Assuming that Sanders declares for the 2025 NFL Draft, this may just end up being the most popular pick across all NFL mocks. The Las Vegas Raiders stayed where they were in the 2024 NFL Draft order and subsequently missed out on every single top-tier QB, which has left them with a carousel of mediocrity at football’s most important position this season.
Gardner Minshew II, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder have all spent time under center for this team in 2024. That simply cannot be the case again in 2025 and beyond. Sanders has plenty of potential going into the NFL, and the name recognition — as Deion Sanders’ son — would certainly help ticket sales right out of the gate.
He has his flaws, but Sanders’ dual-threat ability would provide plenty for this coaching staff — or potentially a new one next season — to build around as this franchise looks to claw its way back to playoff contention.”
