‘Super Team Merchant’ — Rams Fans Call Out Sean McVay for Questionable Play Calling in 23-15 Loss vs. Dolphins

    Published on

The Los Angeles Rams were upset with head coach Sean McVay after the team lost 23-15 at home to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.

Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams lost 23-15 to the Miami Dolphins on “Monday Night Football.” This was the Rams’ first loss since Week 5, and they are now 4-5 on the season.

Both defenses played lights out and were able to shut each other’s running game. The Rams were down by 11 points with less than 40 seconds left in the game, and McVay decided to kick a field goal in an attempt to make it a one-possession game and recover an onside kick.

Unfortunately, the Dolphins spoiled his plans and came away with an eight-point win. The Rams’ fans were not happy with how McVay coached tonight, and they expressed their frustration on social media.

Fans Criticize Sean McVay for Loss Against Dolphins

Here’s how the fans reacted to the Rams’ loss to the Dolphins:

“I want people to question Sean Mcvay decisions the same they questioned Todd Bowles last week on MNF,” said another fan comparing McVay’s decisionmaking to that of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach who opted not to go for a potentially game-winning two-point attempt.

“Can’t believe Sean McVay let us down tonight,” added a Rams fan.

“Sean McVay just bent over and let himself get beat. Down all game and kept settling for field goals. Rams had no ambition to win that game,” wrote a fan.

Another fan added, “As a Rams fan who’s watched nearly every regular season and playoff game of Sean Mcvay’s 8 seasons as HC, I can confidently say this is one of his worst coaching performances I’ve ever witnessed. His play calls, decision-making, urgency, etc., were completely out of touch.”

The Rams attempted a field goal six times against the Dolphins, and their kicker Joshua Karty converted five of them, scoring all 15 points for the team. Ultimately, not being able to score a single touchdown cost L.A. the game, as Miami benefitted from celebration-worthy touchdowns by Tyreek Hill and Malik Washington.

McVay is well known for being one of the best offensive minds in the league, but in Week 10, his former colleague Mike McDaniel got the better of him. With this win, Miami improved to 3-6 and kept itself alive in the race to the playoffs.

Rams Are Set for a Long Trip to East Coast for Week 11

The Rams will travel to the East Coast to play the New England Patriots in Week 11. The Patriots have won two of their last three games, but McVay’s team should be able to get the job done against them.

McVay and Stafford have to bounce back from this loss quickly as their schedule gets tougher after the game against the Patriots. They still have matchups left against the likes of the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, and the rest of their division opponents.

On their day, the Rams are one of the best teams in the NFC and a legit Super Bowl contender. They will hope that the game against the Dolphins was just an off night. Los Angeles is currently ranked third in the NFC West but still has a fair chance of winning the division.
