‘This Dude Is a Terrible Liar’ — NFL Fans Speculate Over Jayden Daniels’ Comments on His Availability for Commanders-Bears Game

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' latest comments on his availability in Week 8 against the Bears drew reactions from fans.

The Washington Commanders drafted Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he has completely changed the franchise’s culture.

The Commanders are 5-2 to start the season and could potentially make the playoffs in the first year under new head coach Dan Quinn. They won 40-7 against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7, but Daniels unfortunately suffered a rib injury early in the game.

His injury status for the Week 8 game is up in the air, but the rookie recently commented about the possibility of playing against Chicago.

Jayden Daniels’ Comments Leave Fans Speculating

“I feel good,” Daniels said. “Do I expect to play? I want to play, but it’s not my decision.”

The Commanders star smirked while saying this, and his comments have left fans puzzled. Some believe he will not play, while others think the opposite.

“This dude is a terrible liar, smiling wide and his eyes darting around,” said one fan.

“Look at that smile, he’s so playing,” said another fan about the QB’s status.

“I believe he’ll play and win,” added another fan.

“Great answer! Keep’em guessing. Plus, I’m sure the staff is looking at this responsibly,” said one fan.

The Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears is of utmost importance for the Commanders. It will feature the battle between the first two overall picks of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Both teams’ fans have debated throughout the season over who is better, Caleb Williams or Daniels. Whoever wins the game will have bragging rights for the rest of the season.

As of now, Daniels is listed as questionable for the game, and he will be a game-time decision for Week 8.

“We will assess how he feels over the next 48 hours, but we really pushed it today,” Quinn said about the quarterback’s status.

Daniels Is Still the Favorite To Win the OROY Award

Despite an injury in Week 7, Daniels is still the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. However, Williams is closing the gap, and the Week 8 fixture could prove to be critical in the race.

In seven games this season, Daniels has thrown for 1,410 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions, completing 75.6% of his throws. He has also rushed for 372 yards and four touchdowns on 66 carries.

On the other hand, Williams has played six games this season and is coming off a bye week. He has thrown for 1,317 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions, completing 65.3% of his throws. The Bears quarterback has rushed for 169 yards on 25 carries.

Both quarterbacks have somewhat similar numbers and have proven to be the right picks for their respective teams. However, once Daniels got hurt against the Panthers, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota stepped in and had a pretty good game. He completed 18 of his 23 throws for 205 yards and two touchdowns, along with 11 carries for 34 yards.

This could mean that Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has implemented a system bound to succeed no matter who the quarterback is. Daniels must outperform Williams in Week 8 to remain the favorite to win the award.
