According to NFL analyst Peter Schrager, the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants are taking calls days ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Get Up’s X account retweeted Schrags, noting, “There have been calls made to both the Browns at No. 2 and the Giants at No. 3 with the intention of moving up in the NFL draft.”
Schrags added:
“The assumption being, to move up to the two or three spot, would be for Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, or the running back Ashton Jeanty.”

2025 NFL Draft Trade Possibilities
The names that Schrags mentions are expected, but we can only guess which teams are calling. Speaking about Jeanty, Schrags continues, “who everyone expects to go somewhere in that five to seven to eight range,” indicating that calls could be coming in anywhere from Jacksonville to North Carolina.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been a team that Jeanty himself said he could see taking him with the No. 6 pick, but the possibilities are wide open. Of course, every team could benefit from any one of these players. Schrags adds that “There have been teams making calls, and those teams are not immediately slamming down the phone: the Browns at two, the Giants at three.”
He continues, “Everyone assumes that this is gonna be chalk. It’s gonna go Cam Ward, it’s gonna go Travis Hunter, it’s gonna go Abdul Carter.” Schrags is vehemently opposing the order now as he adds, “Not so fast. I think the two spot gets very interesting if the Browns are listening to a Godfather deal for them to trade back and someone to trade up into the top three.”
The clip was also shared by senior NFL reporter James Palmer, who captioned it with the statement, “I know a team in the top ten that is head over heels for Travis Hunter. They have been for a while.” So, as of right now, it seems like at least each team between the No. 4 and No. 10 spots are in play.
This year’s draft has already made history with a lack of any trades involving first-round picks executed this close to the draft, which is the closest we have ever seen since the common draft era started in 1967. Going off of chance alone, it is only getting more likely that a trade will be made over the next 48 hours.
We certainly have no shortage of questions. Who is Palmer referencing in his retweet? Would the Chicago Bears, sitting at No. 10, make a move, or would the New Orleans Saints at No. 9 trade up for Hunter? We’ll find out Thursday night.
