Quarterback Jalen Milroe’s announcement of officially accepting the NFL‘s invite made his draft stock buzz with excitement. As NFL insider Jordan Reid confirmed, several NFL teams began eyeing the quarterback prospect.
Milroe is a versatile dual-threat with an average run with Alabama in 2024. Some flashes and strengths undoubtedly impressed the NFL scouts, but the NFL teams would like several areas of improvement, as Reid confirmed.

Jordan Reid on Jalen Milroe’s Growing Popularity in the NFL Draft
Milroe is considered one of the top five prospects in the 2025 NFL quarterback carousel. He is a raw talent packed with explosiveness who works fine outside the pocket but lacks accuracy and decision-making when inside the pocket. Teams would draft him based on his potential and then hone him according to their offensive style, which is exactly what makes him a hot name in the NFL market.
“Jalen Milroe is definitely a hot name in the NFL league circles right now,” Reid said on Sports Center.

One of Milroe’s significant flaws is his accuracy and his pre-snap platform throw. It still needs more polishing. In 2024, he threw for 2844 yards and 16 touchdowns for 11 interceptions. Milroe completed 205 of his 319 attempted passes, bringing his completion percentage to 64.3%, slightly lower than his 65.8% in 2023. In his college career, Milroe threw for 7,593 yards and 78 touchdowns total.
However, his running skills and speed are one of his strengths. The quarterback had one of the most fascinating NFL Combine workouts, where he blitzed through his 40-yard dash in a reported 4.41 seconds.
In addition, Milroe’s skills underwent significant regression in the 2024 season due to Nick Saban’s retirement and head coaching change. This only proves that he will take some time, probably a couple of years, to perform according to the offense.
This makes him a popular Round Two or an early Round Three prospect.
“But as for some landing spots for Milroe, the Saints is one that’s been repeatedly talked about with him, and then also the Steelers as well. So look for him to go in the second or the third round. There is plenty of interest for Jalen Milroe,” Reid added about the teams in talks to draft the quarterback.
Among the top quarterback-needy teams in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the most likely to go for a quarterback in their Round Two pick as they would be drafting another position in Round One. Seeing who wins the chase to draft Milroe among the two would be thrilling.
