Rumors and reports regarding Deion Sanders returning to the Dallas Cowboys next season as their head coach have been omnipresent. Coach Prime has insisted on staying put in Colorado.
However, NFL quarterback-turned-draft-analyst Joel Klatt highlights his feelings on Sanders taking over the reins with the Cowboys. In an interview with Colin Cowherd, Klatt named one more team that could be on Sanders’ radar.
Joel Klatt Shares His Feelings on Deion Sanders to the Cowboys in 2025
Klatt appeared on Fox Sports’ The Herd recently and was asked about his “gut feeling” regarding Sanders’ future. Klatt, on previous occasions, had suggested that Sanders should stay at Klatt’s alma mater, Colorado.
However, the draft analyst understands that the calls from some of the biggest NFL franchises might be too hard to reject for Sanders. “I think it would be really hard for him to turn down the New York Giants or the Dallas Cowboys, those brands,” he said.

Klatt further argued the reasons why Sanders should reject these brands. “He had clauses contractually where he could keep his merchandise and wear the sunglasses and do all of the things that make Deion… Deion.”
“(It) allowed him to mentor young men at the college level, which I know he feels is his calling. Go to the NFL and see if you get all of those. Go to the NFL and see if you can do all of that. He would be so restricted in the NFL that he couldn’t even be himself,” he added.
Jerry Jones Points Out the Issue of Making Sanders the Cowboys’ HC
With the Cowboys at 4-7, their playoff hopes are all but over. As such, the chances of Mike McCarthy returning next year while his contract has only a few months left is slim. Jerry Jones, however, does not see Sanders as McCarthy’s successor.
“One of his greatest skills, that he really brings to college, is that he almost has no peer as far as being a recruiter,” Jones said last week during his appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “Kids want to come play for him. And he has a way of selling that.”
“That is one skill, that recruiting skill, that is not a huge prerequisite for NFL coaches. One of his greatest values is in that area of putting the team together and getting great talent to come play for him there at Colorado.”
