Brian Daboll’s career with the New York Giants definitely didn’t finish the way he envisioned. After compiling a 20-40-1 record across four seasons, Daboll was relieved of his duties nearly halfway through his fourth year. Now the question is where he might land next; a league insider has a sneak peek at potential destinations.

NFL Insider On Where Daboll Will End Up
The last straw came in Week 10, when the Giants blew a lead to the Chicago Bears, allowing 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. The collapse was triggered by an injury to starting quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was replaced by Russell Wilson. Wilson’s entry, combined with breakdowns on defense and special teams, ultimately sealed the demise of Daboll’s stint.
The Athletic’s Diana Russini shared information on what she’s heard about Daboll’s next potential destination.
“He wants to coach again, but it has to be in the right situation, in a spot that feels like the right fit. Some have floated the idea of him as the future offensive coordinator for the Eagles or the Texans, or, as my colleagues Bruce Feldman and Ralph D. Russo reported, maybe even as the head coach at Penn State, since the school has interest. That’s all just fun fodder for now. There’s no doubt that he’ll be back.”
Notably, Daboll has spent time both in the college and NFL coaching worlds. He began his career as a volunteer assistant at William & Mary, eventually finding his way onto Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots staff in various roles. Before securing the New York Giants head coaching gig, he served as the offensive coordinator at Alabama and the Buffalo Bills, where he played a crucial role in the development of quarterback Josh Allen.
His tenure as the Giants’ head coach began on a high note. In his first season in 2022, he led New York to a 9-7-1 season and its first playoff birth since 2016. That playoff run included a surprising upset victory over the Minnesota Vikings, though they’d go on to lose 38-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Despite this, Daboll was named AP NFL Coach of the Year shortly after, and the future looked bright. Following 2022, he was unable to capture that same magic. Eventually, the themes of continuously choking games and internal tensions became too much for the Giants’ ownership to bear.
The offense continued to worsen over the years. Despite having a quality rookie quarterback in Dart, the Giants’ PFSN offensive impact grade stands at 70 through 10 weeks of football.
Now, Daboll will be looking for his next move, potentially with the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans or Penn State.
