Josh Allen didn’t just lead the Buffalo Bills past the Carolina Panthers on Sunday; he made NFL history in the process. In Buffalo’s commanding 40–9 win over Carolina, Allen surpassed former Panthers star Cam Newton for the most games in league history with both a passing and rushing touchdown, doing so for the 46th time in his career.

Josh Allen’s Record-Breaking Day
Allen broke the milestone in trademark fashion. After a defensive stop set up a short field, he powered in a 1-yard rushing touchdown late in the second quarter. Minutes later, he found Khalil Shakir for a 54-yard score, a short pass that Shakir turned into a highlight-reel touchdown thanks to missed tackles downfield.
Allen wasn’t finished. In the third quarter, the Bills’ star added another 1-yard rushing score, this one his 70th career rushing touchdown, making him only the second quarterback in NFL history to reach that mark behind Newton (75). Ahead of this game, Allen had the 7th-best PFSN QB Impact Grade, with an 84.4.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Allen said it was “pretty cool” to break Cam Newton’s dual-touchdown record — especially doing it against Newton’s former team — but emphasized that it wasn’t his focus. “It’s not something you think about when you’re out there,” Allen remarked. “You just want to help your team win games. But to do it against Carolina, where Cam made so many memories, that’s pretty special.”.

Sunday’s performance boosted Allen further up multiple all-time charts. He now ranks 35th in total rushing touchdowns among all players and second among active players behind Derrick Henry.
Among quarterbacks, the updated leaderboard stands as:
- Cam Newton: 75
- Josh Allen: 70
- Jalen Hurts: 60
- Steve Young: 43
- Jack Kemp: 40
Within franchise history, Allen is officially the Buffalo Bills’ all-time leader in rushing touchdowns, surpassing legends like Thurman Thomas (65) and O.J. Simpson (57).
The Week 8 victory was an emphatic rebound for a Bills team that entered the matchup off a bye week and a two-game slide. Led by Allen and running back James Cook, who exploded for a career-high 216 rushing yards, Buffalo’s offense dominated from start to finish.
