With Deion Sanders’ two NFL-bound sons, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders and safety Shilo Sanders, speculations have been rife concerning his future. Despite Sanders being adamant about loving where he is, many believe he’s headed to the NFL or to some top college football team, probably to the team that drafts Shedeur.
Will Deion Sanders Come to the NFL?
Believing on the same lines is ESPN analyst Paul Hembekides, who ranked the potential destination of Sanders from most to least likely.
“I’ll go from least likely to most likely,” Hembekides said on Greeny Progressive. “The least likely thing is that Deion Sanders is not coaching. The next least likely thing is that Deion Sanders is coaching Colorado. The next least likely thing is that Deion Sanders is coaching Florida State. And the likeliest thing is that he’s coaching in the NFL.”
Thus, according to Paul Hembekides, despite Coach Prime staying away from NFL coaching rumors, Sanders is likely to leave college football, most probably coaching the Dallas Cowboys (who might get rid of Mike McCarthy) or Las Vegas Raiders (a top team which could draft Shedeur).
Where Deion Sanders will be coaching in 2025 (ranked from most to least likely) according to @PaulHembo:
1. NFL (Cowboys or Raiders)
2. Florida State
3. Colorado
4. Nowhere https://t.co/yRhOOVHbUp pic.twitter.com/dVvAN3gzNE— ESPN Radio (@ESPNRadio) November 14, 2024
Sanders Doubles Down on Not Leaving Colorado
NFL coaching gigs are much more lucrative than college football jobs. However, money hasn’t been the reason why Sanders took on the college football job.
Just like last season, rumors have started swirling about his potential exit from the college football landscape. This only became strong due to his sons also ending their college football tenure, giving Sanders an incentive to go along with them.
However, Sanders has answered. And it’s not leaving Folsom Field where his office has a beautiful scenic view of Colorado mountains.
“Oh Lord, don’t start that,” Sanders said. “I love it where I am. I love it where I am.”
“Let me take the computer in here, because you’re starting to talk that talk. I love it where I am,” Sanders told FS1 (via Speak).

While the media continues to believe Deion won’t stay true to his word, Coach Prime is rather more focused on helping Colorado reach the Big 12 Championship Game. They have already secured bowl eligibility, and with a 41-27 win over Texas Tech last week, they solidified their second spot in the Big 12 table. They’ll be up against the Utah Utes in Week 12.
