Colorado Buffaloes No. 12 and two-way star Travis Hunter is scripting a Heisman-worthy season, inviting acclaim from all corners. The cornerback/wide receiver is among the most talked about players this college football season, and his performance every week only adds to his draft stock.
Travis Hunter’s NFL Draft Stock Continues To Rise
The latest to talk about Hunter is former wide receiver and NFL analyst Chad Johnson, who thinks the two-way star can play on any team irrespective of their scheme of play.
“No. 12 can play on all 32 teams; hell, he can play on a 33rd team,” Johnson told Shannon Sharpe on “Nightcap.”
However, Johnson worries more about the future of his signal caller, Shedeur Sanders, who he thinks if not drafted to the right team could be considered a bust.
“For the quarterback position … it’s imperative that Prime [Deion Sanders] is there during this entire journey for him. … If you go to the wrong situation …”

Adding more to the conversation, Sharpe said:
“Because the corner, you can kind of do your own thing. Look, [a] quarterback go to the wrong situation, you get hell beat out you, and now all of a sudden people talk about you as a bust. It’s not where you go. I mean, look, obviously you want to go high, but I want to go to the right situation. So if that means instead of going one, two, I go three and I go to an ideal situation.”
Both Sharpe and Johnson emphasized the point that the outlook of the prospective team is more important for a quarterback than for other position players.
Hunter Receives Major Props from Joel Klatt
Another college football analyst who has been bullish on the draft prospects of Hunter is Fox Sports lead college football analyst Joel Klatt, who thinks the two-way star is scripting something unprecedented.
“Travis Hunter is a unicorn,” Klatt said on his podcast. “I want to appreciate what he’s doing and what we’re seeing because we’re never going to see this again. There comes a time when, as a sports fan, you’ve got to sit back and take stock in what you’re witnessing.”
Hunter’s offensive abilities came to the forefront in Colorado’s most recent game against Texas Tech when he had 99 receiving yards and a touchdown, not to mention his critical game-sealing fumble against Baylor, which helped Colorado seize the game in overtime.
It remains to be seen how he will fare when he turns pro after entering the NFL Draft in 2025.
