Shedeur Sanders appears to have landed in potentially the best spot for him to compete in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns. However, NFL analyst David Samson is still pessimistic about Sanders’ chances of even making the main roster.
The Browns do not have an entrenched starting quarterback, and he joins veterans Joe Flacco and Super Bowl champion Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie quarterback Dillion Gabriel in the quarterback room. Deshaun Watson is also still under contract, although he is rehabbing from a torn Achilles.
He shared his thoughts on the “Pablo Finds Out” podcast with former ESPN analyst Pablo Torre.
David Samson Shares His Pessimism for Shedeur Sanders
Samson, a host of his own YouTube show “Nothing Personal with David Samson,” explained why he does not believe Sanders will make it in the NFL.
“Here’s what all the pundits are getting wrong. It’s not just that he slipped down to the fifth round. It’s that 32 teams felt that there were four players they’d rather have each before Shedeur Sanders, and the Browns were one team who thought, all right, he’s the fifth guy that we’d like.”
The Browns will likely only carry three quarterbacks on the main roster, and Samson believes Sanders will be one of the quarterbacks cut.
“It seems like five. Watson, Flacco, Pickett, Gabriel, Sanders. One, two, three, four, five quarterbacks on one team. Clearly, they’re not all going to make it. Our friend, Mr. [Dan] Le Batard, is of the opinion in his show that there’s an opportunity where Sanders could be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, and this is a great pick for them, in theory.
“I’m of the opinion he won’t even make the team.”
The Cleveland Browns currently have five QBs on their roster:
1. Deshaun Watson
2. Joe Flacco
3. Kenny Pickett
4. Dillon Gabriel

Sanders had to endure a disappointing draft process, which resulted in him falling all the way to the fifth round. If he wants to prove the doubters wrong, he will get his first opportunity soon.
Sanders and the Browns’ other six rookie selections will attend the team’s rookie minicamp from May 9 to 11 at the Browns’ headquarters in Berea, Ohio.
The rookie minicamp is an orientation process where the players get familiar with the playbook while participating in on-field drills. The drills are non-contact, but quarterbacks like Sanders and third-round pick Gabriel would still be able to throw to the receivers.
The rookies will then reconvene with the rest of the team at the mandatory minicamp from June 10 to 12. There are another ten dates between May and June for OTA offseason workouts.
Idiots..he’s better than Pickett and flacco.
Racists haters is what it really is
I feel like the Browns are in a position where they can’t cut him before the season because of the negative press.
