Former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh became one of the hottest names on the NFL coaching carousel after the Ravens fired Harbaugh on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
While Harbaugh’s name has been linked to the Miami Dolphins following their firing of head coach Mike McDaniel, they’re not the only team heavily interested in him at this time.
What Other NFL Team Wants John Harbaugh As HC?
According to reports, the New York Giants, who are also seeking a new permanent head coach after firing Brian Daboll during the 2025 NFL season, are interested in speaking with Harbaugh about the opening.
ESPN NFL Nation reporter Jordan Raanan, who covers the Giants on a regular basis, indicated in a report posted on X on Friday that the Giants are interested.
“Despite the Dolphins expected pursuit, John Harbaugh still has interest in the Giants job and an interview is likely middle of next week,” Raanan reported. “Jaxson Dart’s presence is a significant reason for the interest. Everything I’ve heard is the Giants want Harbaugh badly.”

When someone on X criticized Raanan’s reporting on the Giants-Harbaugh connection, Raanan replied: “Look at my timeline. Listening to the aggregators is dangerous. I relayed a story and then followed that up by saying I still believe the Giants will interview Harbaugh and have their chance. The second part never made it to light.”
John, who is the brother of Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, coached the Ravens for 18 seasons. In those, Harbaugh led the Ravens to a Super Bowl championship in 2012. His coaching record with Baltimore was 180-113 in the regular season, and he only had three losing seasons, including an 8-9 record this past season.
For the Ravens, they are now out looking for Harbaugh’s replacement. Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti appreciated the time the head coach spent with the club in a statement issued upon Harbaugh’s firing.
Last season, the Ravens also had to deal with quarterback Lamar Jackson missing some games due to injury, and now Baltimore needs a head coach who can get the best out of the two-time NFL MVP. According to PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, Jackson ranked 12th among quarterbacks in the league in 2025.
Harbaugh’s experience on the sidelines is quite attractive to not only the Dolphins but also, apparently, the Giants. The 63-year-old coach has indicated that he will take some time this week to collect his thoughts before interviewing for a new job.
