The New York Jets have a new quarterback in Justin Fields after NFL free agency. Fields joins New York after the release of Aaron Rodgers. The one-time Chicago Bears draft pick appears to be on track to serve as the team’s starting signal-caller in 2025. And he recently received a bit of help in the form of wide receiver Josh Reynolds.
Reynolds signed a one-year contract with the Jets on March 27. The veteran wide receiver spent the 2024 campaign with the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. He signed a two-year deal with the Broncos last offseason. However, he played just five games in Denver before being waived and claimed by Jacksonville.
Reynolds played nine games in total during the 2024 campaign. And he certainly hopes to rebuild his value in New York this upcoming season. Now, we are learning more about the one-year contract he signed with the Jets.

Josh Reynolds Contract Details Emerge After Jets Signing
As mentioned, Reynolds signed on for one season in New York. Previous reports indicated that the veteran pass catcher would earn $2.75 million through his signing bonus and base salary. However, as noted by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, he has ample opportunity to earn more money through incentives.

With this incentive structure, Reynolds has a chance to earn $5 million in total in 2025. This total would be slightly higher than the annual average value on the contract he signed with the Broncos last year. His two-year contract with Denver was worth $9 million in total, or $4.5 million per season.
Josh Reynolds Reunites With Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn
Reynolds certainly had a down season in 2024. As a result, he signed a prove-it deal with the Jets to try and reestablish himself. One potential reason he chose to sign in New York could be new head coach Aaron Glenn.
Reynolds and Glenn have crossed paths before in their NFL journeys. Reynolds played for the Detroit Lions from 2021 to 2023. At that time, Glenn served as the Lions’ defensive coordinator. Detroit climbed through the NFL ranks to win the NFC North in 2023 while also advancing to the NFC Championship Game.
Reynolds was not re-signed by the Lions following that title-game loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Technically, Glenn and Reynolds were disconnected in their time in Detroit. Glenn handled the defense, and Reynolds is an offensive player.
However, Glenn spent time around the offense as well as the defense. His close relationships with head coach Dan Campbell and then-offensive coordinator Ben Johnson helped, as well. Having a familiar face like Glenn around could give Reynolds some comfort and confidence as he approaches the upcoming season.
Reynolds joins a wide-receiver room with some spots up for grabs. Garrett Wilson is the undisputed No. 1 receiver in this offseason. He is surrounded by the likes of veteran Allen Lazard and young pass catcher Malachi Corley, although Lazard is thought to be a likely post-June 1 cut candidate.
Reynolds certainly has a chance to earn playing time with the Jets this season. Doing so also opens up a ton of opportunity to earn additional money through his contract incentives. Perhaps he helps Glenn’s Jets find some success in 2025, as well.
