Stephen Curry, the veteran point guard of the Golden State Warriors, is a legend both on and off the court. While his opponents acknowledge him as a lethal player capable of decimating any defense, his fans know him as a loving person who values them and understands the deep emotions they attach to him.
Curry’s caring side was on display recently as the four-time NBA champion made the day of a longtime fan. His gesture drew heaps of praise from the basketball community and created a moment that Grandma Kitty will cherish forever.

One moment—that’s all fans yearn for with their favorite players. That moment is the culmination of anticipation, hope, and joy, becoming a cherished memory for a lifetime. Something similar happened to Kitty Ford, the 86-year-old upstate New York native who is often called Curry’s biggest fan.
Curry and the Warriors were slated for a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Thursday, March 6 which they won 121-119. While Grandma Kitty usually watches games on TV, this was her lucky day—she had the opportunity to attend the game in person. And just like that, she also got the chance to meet the player she has admired for so many years.
A pregame video posted by the NBA’s official X handle shows Curry signing a special Grandma Kitty Warriors jersey and sharing a warm hug with his biggest fan. The two also had a cheerful conversation before Curry headed to the court.

Grandma Kitty’s love for the Warriors legend came to light when a TikTok video made by her granddaughter, Maddie Franklin, went viral. The video highlights Grandma Kitty’s deep admiration for the 36-year-old veteran, showcasing how she keeps handwritten records of all Curry’s games, his opponents, where the game was televised, and how the star performed.
Speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area in a Zoom interview, with Kitty by her side, Maddie shared how her grandmother constantly talks about Curry, heaping praise on the NBA icon and celebrating his achievements.
“All the grandkids always joke around that Steph Curry is her favorite grandchild,” Maddie said. “Grandma will pray for us before soccer games or tests, and she has a little statue of [Curry] that’s right up there with us. Every time I visit, she’s always talking about Steph Curry—how much she loves him and the great game he had or how he performed in the Olympics.”
Kitty is a retired nurse from a local high school. She previously worked at St. Louise House, a home for aging, retired nuns in Albany. After her professional career, she found solace in basketball and developed an extreme fondness for the Warriors’ star. Now, she has finally met her favorite player in person—a moment that must have brought her a sense of pure joy and fulfillment.
