The NBA’s future is bright with prospects like Dylan Harper coming in, and if there’s one player who knew Harper had what it takes beforehand, it’s Stephen Curry.
With the 2025 NBA Draft coming up, a video from last year has resurfaced in which the Golden State Warriors star revealed how good Harper was when he defended him in pick-up games.
Stephen Curry Admitted He Didn’t Score on Dylan Harper
While talking with reporters in April 2024, Curry revealed that he played against the high prospect and couldn’t score on him. That video has resurfaced as the NBA Draft’s X account posted it.
“Dylan especially was funny, because he guarded me on a couple of the pick-up runs we had and I might not have scored on him,” Curry told reporters. “He was counting my stats, but you love that competitiveness because they’re there to get better.”

Curry may be in his mid-30s, but he can still score at will against anyone in the NBA. The fact that Harper could shut him down will show other NBA teams what’s ahead for them next year when they go up against whichever team picks him. It’s projected to be the San Antonio Spurs.
Shutting down Curry is no easy task, as he’s one of the NBA’s best scorers in league history. Harper’s ability to do so shows that at least one aspect of his game is not only NBA-ready but could even be on an elite level when he enters the NBA. The question will be whether he’ll show the same offensive abilities as he’s projected.
If it weren’t for Duke superstar Cooper Flagg coming in at the same time, Harper might have been the consensus No. 1 pick entering the 2025 NBA Draft. As the son of five-time champion Ron Harper, Dylan could be the face of the NBA’s next wave of talented prospects.
With players like Curry entering the twilight of his career, the NBA can sleep well knowing how bright their tomorrow will be.
Curry also deserves props for praising the future stars of the NBA. The funny thing is, the stars who came before him have developed a knack for criticizing the current stars, so perhaps Curry praising Harper could start a new wave of the older generations of the newer ones coming in.
