Stephen Curry Injury Update: Latest on Warriors Superstar’s Availability for 2nd Night of Back-to-Back Against Kings

Starting the 2025-26 season on a strong note, the Golden State Warriors fell into a brief slump before regaining footing against the Phoenix Suns. While they bagged a 118-107 victory against Devin Booker’s Suns, the team might need to brace for a few roadblocks as the league approaches its in-season tournament.

Currently at a 5-3 win-loss record, the Warriors, led by Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, have a good chance of securing a top seed. And though they have ample time until the playoffs, Curry’s active status primarily impacts the team’s standings.

Stephen Curry’s Injury Status: Will the Warriors Star Play vs. the Kings?

According to recent reports, Curry has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors star is reportedly ill and will need to rest before resuming play — likely during their next game against the Denver Nuggets.

During their game against the Suns, Curry posted a team-high 28 points before being benched. His effort led the Warriors to a win after two consecutive losses, bringing back the team’s tempo. However, bad news was awaiting fans right after the game.

Head coach Steve Kerr, speaking to the media after the game, was firm about Curry needing rest.

“He’s wiped out right now,” coach Kerr said. “I don’t care what the doctors say, we’ve got to get him some rest. I’ll make the decision right now — he’s not going to play tomorrow. He needs rest, he’s been sick. All the travel, everything, has just caught up with him. Hopefully get him some rest and he’ll be ready to go for Denver.”

While the team needs Curry, the Warriors need their superstar to be well-rested before returning to the game. Additionally, Kerr was confident Curry would be back on Friday, which will mark the team’s Group Stage NBA Cup game against the Nuggets.

Curry Opens About Sickness and Missing Kings Clash After 18-Point Game vs. the Suns

Knowing Curry’s dedication to the team, one can only assume the 37-year-old doesn’t want to miss any game. However, the 11-time NBA All-Star knows he needs to be there for his team long term.

“I need a day to kick it to the curb and get back to full strength…” Curry explained. “I’ll monitor it and see how it goes, but I want to be 100% for the long term.”

On top of that, Butler is also listed as questionable vs. the Kings. Currently ranked sixth in the Western Conference, the Warriors clash with Sacramento is scheduled on Nov. 5 at the Golden 1 Center.
