Stephen Curry Hilariously References Viral 6-7 Meme After Monster 46-Point Effort vs. Spurs

Stephen Curry went off for 46 points in a win over the Spurs, and then had fans laughing as he brought back the viral "6–7" meme in his postgame celebration.

Coming off a blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Golden State Warriors entered Wednesday night’s matchup desperate to avoid falling below .500. With their backs against the wall, Stephen Curry, fresh off a sluggish performance in his return from a three-game absence, delivered a vintage performance when his team needed it most.

The four-time NBA champion erupted for 46 points in a classic Curry showcase, then capped the night by hilariously referencing the viral “6-7” meme during his celebration.

Stephen Curry Brings Back the “6–7” Meme in Postgame Celebration

For those unfamiliar, the viral “6–7” craze began with the track “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Philadelphia rapper Skrilla. What started as a catchy lyric quickly turned into a popular internet meme, often accompanied by a playful hand gesture, and was embraced by non-adults as a celebration across social media and sports.

After leading the Warriors to a 125-120 win over the surging San Antonio Spurs, Curry playfully brought the meme to life. Postgame, the two-time MVP shouted, “7–6 better than 6–7!”, a cheeky nod to the meme as the Warriors avoided falling below .500.

The win moved Golden State to 7–6 on the season, placing them ninth in the Western Conference standings. Curry was sensational once again, dropping 46 points, five assists, and five rebounds, while Jimmy Butler was second on the team with 28 points.

The performance marked Curry’s 73rd career 40-point game, moving him ahead of former teammate Kevin Durant for the ninth-most in NBA history. Head coach Steve Kerr praised his superstar afterward, even drawing a comparison to Spurs legend Tim Duncan.

“When you have the privilege of watching Steph for 11-plus years like I have, you get used to this. He’s the reason this whole thing has happened. You know, he’s our Tim Duncan — he’s the sun in our solar system,” Kerr said in his presser. “He’s just such an incredible player and teammate, and it’s great to see him back out there.”

Curry is now just one game shy of tying six-time NBA Champion Michael Jordan for the most 40-point performances after the age of 30. The 37-year-old also extended his NBA record for most 20-point quarters (43) after erupting for 22 points in the third.

Having recently returned with a lackluster outing from a three-game absence due to illness, Curry has very well found his rhythm now. Through 10 games this season, he’s averaging 27.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.5 steals, shooting 45.3% from the field and 36.9% from beyond the arc.
