Skip Bayless’ beef with LeBron James is not a new revelation. It’s actually been one of his calling cards as one of the most recognized sports analysts.
That means if Bayless ever has the chance to fire a shot at James, he will take it. Bayless did it again, but this time, he decided to bring Michael Jordan into the conversation.
Bayless Fires Bizarre Shot At LeBron James
In his latest barb, Bayless decided to reference James’ relationship with Jordan. Not only that, but he made a declaration on his X account about James and Jordan’s relationship when the former retires.
“Hey, LeBron, I see where you say you and Jordan don’t talk but that you hope that changes after you retire. It won’t. He’s above you, will remain aloof. You chose to wear 23, keep doing HIS pre-tip powder-toss, to pretty much announce, ‘I’m the next Him.’ Nope. He won’t forget,” Bayless wrote.
This is after James detailed his current relationship with Jordan on “The Pat McAfee Show,” where he revealed that they don’t talk all that much.
History Of Bayless vs James
Bayless’ contempt for James is well-documented, and he has stooped to stupefying lows to really make his issues known. Bayless has referenced Jordan before when talking about his disdain for James. That makes sense, given that James and Jordan constantly get compared to one another in conversations regarding not only who’s better but also who is the greatest basketball player of all time.
Bayless can criticize James’ attempts to emulate Jordan, but why wouldn’t James do that? Jordan was James’ idol growing up, much like he was for plenty of NBA players who came after him. Jordan is arguably the most influential player to ever grace the NBA. Jordan’s ad campaign during his playing days for Gatorade was “Be Like Mike.”
Plus, Jordan has never been known to be a friendly person, period. Tell-all books and documentaries like “The Jordan Rules” and “The Last Dance” detail how ruthless he was as a player and teammate.
So, if he treats James coldly after the latter retires, that’s not really a reflection of James. More importantly, what’s wrong with James’ hopes of getting along with perhaps the one player whose legacy rivals his?
When James’ career is over, two things will be glaringly apparent by the end—how often he’ll be compared to Jordan and how often Bayless will use him to get attention.
