Sacramento Kings Reportedly Release 2-Year NBA Player After Nuggets Game

On Monday night, the Sacramento Kings lost to the Denver Nuggets (in Colorado) by a score of 130-124.

The Kings dropped to 2-5 in seven games, which has them as the 13th seed in the Western Conference.

Sacramento Kings Make Roster Moves After Nuggets Game

After the game, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the team had made several roster moves.

Charania’s First Post: “Free agent Precious Achiuwa has agreed on a deal with the Sacramento Kings, sources tell ESPN. Achiuwa enters his sixth NBA season and gives the Kings immediate rebounding and defensive versatility.”

Charania’s Second Post: “The Kings are expected to waive second-year center Isaac Jones to make roster space to sign Achiuwa, sources said.”

Jones has been with the Kings for part of two seasons.

His career averages are 3.2 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 64.7% from the field in 43 games.

Via Frankie Cartoscelli of Sactown Sports 1140: “Adding Precious Achiuwa provides the Kings with immediate help in the frontcourt, but losing Isaac Jones in the process is unfortunate. Achiuwa is 26, Jones is 25. Seems like Sacramento is going for the “help now” approach with this move.”

On the other hand, Achiuwa was the 20th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

He has spent five years playing for the Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors.

The 26-year-old has career averages of 7.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 48.4% from the field and 30.4% from three-point range in 320 games.

The Kings will play their next game on Wednesday night when they return home to host Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors.

They last made the NBA playoffs during the 2023 season.
