NBA Insider Reveals Western Conference Team’s Interest In Ja Morant Amid Trade Rumors

Ja Morant has been the talk of the town since making his comments regarding the Memphis Grizzlies’ coaching staff last Friday, Oct. 31. The Grizzlies and Morant haven’t been on good terms as of late, and while the situation may seem negative, it could turn out to be a positive development for other teams.

According to several reports, one Western Conference team is interested in seeing how things unfold between Morant and the Grizzlies.

Sacramento Kings Monitoring Ja Morant’s Situation in Memphis

The Kings are currently in a phase of redefining their identity. This shift began when Sacramento traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last season, a move that shocked many given Fox’s success alongside Domantas Sabonis in recent years.

With the team clearly heading in a new direction, Sacramento’s front office is likely on the lookout for its next marquee player.

Morant remains one of the NBA’s most prominent stars. Despite his off-court controversies, he is among the most dynamic and electrifying point guards in the league.

While the Kings seem to have a stacked roster, having players like Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Russell Westbrook, things aren’t clicking for the team. They have gotten off to a rough start this season, posting a 2-5 record, which places them 13th in the Western Conference.

Given this context, it seems the Kings’ front office is eager to shake things up by potentially adding a high-impact star capable of leading Sacramento. According to reports, Kings general manager Scott Perry is keeping a close eye on Morant’s situation in Memphis.

While Perry has not yet contacted the Grizzlies about a possible trade, this would not be his first time orchestrating a roster transformation.

“According to a league source, the Kings have yet to engage the Grizzlies in trade talks in light of the latest developments in Memphis, but that could change,” Kings beat writer Jason Anderson reported. “(Scott) Perry, an experienced NBA executive who has been a part of roster transformations in Detroit, Orlando, and New York, will most certainly monitor all situations involving high-end talent, including Morant’s future in Memphis.”

Given the position that Morant plays on the floor, it’s likely that either Westbrook or Dennis Schröder will be part of the trade deal. Additionally, for financial reasons, one of the other three stars — DeRozan, LaVine, or Sabonis — could also be involved in the deal.
