Since retiring from the NBA in 2005, Reggie Miller has worked in broadcasting. Miller has been a lead analyst for TNT for nearly two decades.
Though Miller has been at the job for as long as he has, he doesn’t have much fanfare for his current line of work. During the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Golden State Warriors, plenty of fans criticized the Hall of Famer’s words.
Fans Mercilessly Call Out Reggie Miller
Fans have some pretty harsh criticism as Miller was calling the Lakers-Warriors game. One called “SLO HOOPS FAN” had this to say about Miller, “Dude is the worst. No personality, only word salads, narratives, drivel, nonsense, incoherent babbling.”
Another fan named “Poppa Slim” made a specific criticism about Miller, writing, “Reggie Miller over exaggerate too much.”
Fans were not happy about Miller on the call. This popped up quite a bit when Miller claimed that Luka Dončić took a cheap shot on Brandin Podziemski for not getting a call earlier.
One Dončić fan named “HeroOfTheDay” called Miller out for this, stating that the former NBA star was straight up lying, writing, “Reggie Miller suggesting that Luka Doncic attempted to hurt a Golden State player because he didn’t get a foul on the previous possession. He’s just making stuff up out there. The media is TRASH!!”
Lakers fans were also not impressed, as one named J.A. Bailey did not hide his disdain for Miller, writing, “Listening to Reggie Miller call Lakers games is torture. He hates the LA and doesn’t even try to hide it.”
Broadcasting Not An Easy Gig
Much like with NBA players, it comes with the territory that anyone in broadcasting is not going to please everybody. Some like Miller, and some don’t when he’s on the call.
It’s telling that, despite the amount of hate levied at Miller during games like these, he’s still had this job for as long as he has. Even if fans don’t approve of what he says during the games, TNT has kept him in the booth for as long as they have for a reason.
Things will continue this way even though Miller won’t be working for TNT after this season. For anyone who’s wondering, Miller will continue his work in broadcasting when the NBA moves away from TNT to NBC.
Perhaps a change of scenery could get Miller more approval during NBC’s broadcast. It may depend on who’s sharing the booth with him.
