    With Thompson’s slow start to the season, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that the Mavs could look to trade him.

    Many NBA fans have shown sympathy to Thompson for his slow start (and the trade rumor).

    @nikotaughtyou: “Craziest ending for him, should’ve retired a Warrior.”

    @emilykatetakes: “should have never left”

    @IsaacChins: “Yea it’s over man”

    @brawadis: “Feel bad for Klay. He signed w/ dallas to compete for championships & more importantly, play with Luka who would generate him TONS of open looks. Now he’s on one of the worst teams in the west. He’s gotta be frustrated”

    @Ozz2K24: “Kidd doesn’t know how to play him so better off letting him go”

    @jtbucketsss: “Come home king . At least you can be washed in a place you’re loved”

    StatMuse: “Klay this season: 8.5 PPG 1.8 3PM 34/29/100% averaging the fewest MPG of his career.”

    @brzrkr99: “splash bros .. remember that ?”

    @Denized77: “He came for luka, he’ll leave for luka. It’s time.”

    @SirSavageDa21st: “Smh. Even the greatest of jump shooter can lose the ability to shoot”

    @ImSemari: “celtics shaq”

    @BolNute: “Game 6 Klay never coming back”

    @SwagggyJay_: “I’m sure the percentages will even out but seeing 29% from deep for KLAY THOMPSON is crazy”

    Thompson was the 11th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Washington State.

    He spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Golden State Warriors.

    The Mavs will play their next game on Friday night when they visit Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies.

    They are 2-6 in their first eight games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Western Conference.
