Lakers Legend Magic Johnson Made His Feelings Clear About Bronny James

Despite being the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny James is one of the most famous basketball players in the world.

Being the son of LeBron James (and his teammate), comes with a lot of attention from media and fans.

There have been many mixed reviews on Bronny during his short time as a pro.

He finished his rookie year with averages of 2.3 points per contest while while shooting 31.3% from the field in 27 games.

What Does Magic Johnson Think Of Bronny?

With the 2025-26 season coming up, it’s worth looking back at what Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson said about the 21-year-old (last year).

Johnson wrote (on October 19, 2024): “Laker Nation, I have to tell you Bronny James is going to be a really good basketball player! Last night, he showed he has a few things you simply can’t teach-high basketball IQ, athleticism, and a competitive spirit that makes him a tenacious defender! I believe after a lot of hard work this season, he’ll definitely be in the Lakers’ rotation and playing heavy minutes.”

How Did Fans Respond At The Time?

@30problemz: “Bronny James is gonna be a superstar. Bookmark this.”

@jion_12345: “BRONNY IS THE FUTURE OF THE NBA”

@bnikolicc: “shame you don’t do these posts for actually good basketball players lol”

@LasVegasNBAteam: “I think this is the worse possible thing you could do for Bronny and Bron man. I’m a huge Bron fan but you are just setting him up for failure. He should play 5 min in the regular season with Bron and the rest of the year in G league with the South Bay Lakers.”

@jimsouders: “Austin Reeves was all big 12 at Oklahoma. Bronny didn’t make his all League team in High School. He seems like a good kid and he has athletic ability. He would have been better served to develop his skills on the college level and prove himself there. This is a farce.”

@KeithWMattox: “He would’ve been better off if he stayed in college to develop his game and get his degree.”

The Lakers head into the new season with Luka Doncic as their leader, while Bronny’s father (LeBron) will miss the first month due to injury.

They will host Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors on October 21 in Los Angeles.

Johnson still has a lot of time to be correct about Bronny.
