He also made NBA history by playing in his 900th game.

After the loss, Thompson made a heartfelt statement when he met with the media.

Thompson (via Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News): “It’s awesome, honestly. A dream come true and my next goal is to get to 1,000. I know that’s a high mark and only so many players have ever experienced that, but I’m just grateful to still be playing… Playing at a high level and having fun. Wow, 900 regular season games, pretty incredible… If you told me that graduating high school, I woulda been doing cartwheels.”
