Anthony Edwards has not missed a playoff game for the Minnesota Timberwolves this postseason. The 23-year-old shooting guard has been a key contributor, helping lead the Timberwolves back to the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive year.
After six days of rest following their series-clinching win over the Golden State Warriors, the Timberwolves will be eager to hit the court for Game 1 of their matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, set for Tuesday night.
Edwards has been managing a nagging ankle injury throughout the early rounds of the playoffs but is expected to be fully healthy for the opener at the Paycom Center. The 6-foot-4 guard is slated to start and should play a pivotal role in Minnesota’s quest for a Finals berth.
Edwards Dealing With Ankle Issue in First Two Rounds of Playoffs
Minnesota fans held their breath when Edwards was helped to the locker room by trainers during the second quarter of Game 2 against the Warriors. After elevating for a layup, Edwards landed awkwardly on Trayce Jackson-Davis’ leg, injuring his left ankle.
Edwards was visibly in pain as he made his way through the tunnel at Target Center, but after receiving treatment from the medical staff, he returned in the second half. He ended up playing 34 minutes, helping guide the Timberwolves to a crucial 117–93 victory.
The Warriors series wasn’t the first time Edwards played through ankle issues. In the opening-round matchup against the Lakers, the Georgia native collided with LeBron James in the second quarter of Game 4. Edwards bounced back then too, finishing the game with a team-high 43 points.

Anthony Edwards’ 2025 Playoff Numbers
Edwards was the Timberwolves’ leading scorer during the regular season, and the dynamic guard has continued to deliver in the playoffs.
He leads the team in both points (26.5) and assists (5.9, tied with Julius Randle), while shooting an impressive 38.5% from three-point range. Edwards has already knocked down 35 triples through the first two rounds.
But his impact goes beyond scoring. Over 10 postseason games, the athletic guard is also averaging 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks, showcasing his all-around game.
Powered by the three-time All-Star, Minnesota has rolled through back-to-back 4–1 series wins. Up next is a talented and well-balanced Thunder squad that promises a tougher challenge. The Timberwolves now stand just four wins away from making franchise history with their first-ever trip to the NBA Finals.
