Dwyane Wade Drops Ecstatic 4-Word Response as Miami Heat Advance to Round 1 After Historic Play-In Win

The Miami Heat just reminded everyone why you never count out the underdog. In a game full of momentum swings and big-time plays, they showed up and showed out, pulling off a historic win that got the whole league buzzing. With clutch moments, unexpected stars stepping up, and shoutouts from legends like Dwyane Wade, this one had it all.

Dwyane Wade Reacts as Tyler Herro, Heat Advance to Playoffs

Looking at the April 18 game between the Heat and the Hawks, Miami locked in a 123-114 win and became the first 10-seed to advance in the NBA playoffs.

Tyler Herro led the way with 30 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Bam Adebayo added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

These feats caught Wade off-guard, and he couldn’t help but post on X: “HERRO!!!! MITCHELL!!! Straight hooping!”

In this game, Davion Mitchell scored a total 16 points, five assists, and three rebounds. It may not seem like a lot but out of these 16, nine points were from overtime alone.

Wade wasn’t the only one hyped. Herro praised his squad after the game: “I love how my team fought. Every single run that they made, we answered.”

He was later asked about Mitchell’s huge OT stretch — taking charges, grabbing boards, and hitting big shots.

Looking at Mitchell’s contribution to the game, Herro realized how lucky they are to have him and called him a beast.

“He’s a dog, he’s a pitbull, whatever you want to call him; Davion Mitchell, he needs to be on someone’s [all-]defensive, first, second, or I think third [team], however many teams they have, man. But, no, Davion has been a tremendous pickup since we got him. I’m so glad he’s with us, and he’s a menace on that side.”

When asked what the win meant to him, Herro said: “I think this entire season leading up to this point is Heat Culture.”

“It wasn’t the exact perfect season for us, but all the ups and downs, how we fought, continued to fight back, answering runs, 10-game losing streak to come back and answer and go, I think we’re 9-2 since then. It says a lot about our team, our organization, and we got to keep continue to keep getting better,” Herro said.

Miami advanced to face the No. 1-seed Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Game 1 is set for April 20, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET in Cleveland, kicking off a best-of-seven series.
