Kyle Busch has 63 Cup Series wins under his belt, the highest among currently active NASCAR drivers. However, it has been two years since his last win, and his wait for 64th got prolonged after another dismal outing on Sunday.
Samantha Busch, Busch’s wife, took to social media to give an update on the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) driver after he crashed out of the Viva Mexico 250.
Samantha Busch Speaks Out Following Kyle Busch’s Mexico Struggles
Busch’s race ended early in Sunday’s Viva Mexico 250 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, spinning out on Lap 8.
With the race underway on a rain-soaked surface, the field battled on wet tires. In those tricky conditions, Busch’s No. 8 Chevrolet lost grip entering Turn 1, crashing into Justin Haley and collecting Kyle Larson, AJ Allmendinger, Chase Briscoe, and Zane Smith in the wreck.
Busch admitted fault for the wreck.
“I went to the brakes and just ice,” Busch told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “Maybe it was a little too heavy of a brake spike. Just turned around backwards and spun out backwards. Hate it for all the guys that got involved because it was, obviously, purely my fault.”

“I don’t know what I could have done differently. I broke at the 10 marker. It’s not like I was trying to break at the six.”
“I was in trouble for a good second or two, and then I was like, ‘I am going to nail some people so I probably should turn around backwards, and at least try to soften the blow.’”
Busch’s crew fought to repair the car and get it back on track, but their efforts were not enough to avoid a premature end to their race.

After the crash, Samantha turned to social media to update fans on her husband’s condition.
“Still working on car. Absolutely heartbroken for Kyle and the 8 team. He was so optimistic and excited this morning for the race,” she wrote.

A DNF was the last thing Busch needed at this point. Starting P11, he looked strong early on, but now sits at least one win or 50 points below the playoff cutline with just 10 regular-season races left. To make matters worse, his winless streak has stretched to 73 races.
The last couple of years haven’t seen the “Wild Thing” fans once knew. With a contract at RCR through 2026, both sides have plenty of incentive to turn things around.
