As the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway for the 2025 AdventHealth 400, fifth-year driver Ross Chastain has partnered with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to promote an essential message.
Chastain — once again driving the No. 1 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing — takes safety seriously and often partners with local safety commissions and state organizations to raise awareness for wearing seat belts.
Ross Chastain Urges Fans to ‘Buckle Up’ Ahead of AdventHealth 400
Kansas Speedway is set for a thrilling weekend, with top drivers battling it out in one of the season’s most anticipated intermediate track races. Ahead of competing in the 400-mile race, Chastain wanted to focus on something even more critical.
Chastain took to social media to announce his partnership with KDOT, reminding fans to “Buckle Up” and “Protect Your Melon.” His message was clear: seatbelts save lives.
He wrote: “Really proud to announce I’m partnering with the @KDOTHQ to remind fans that wearing a seatbelt is the single most effective way to protect yourself in a crash. Don’t forget to #BuckleUp and #ProtectYourMelon this weekend heading to and from the track!”
Chastain, known for his aggressive style on the track, shows his responsible side outside the lines. Partnering with KDOT for their “Drive to Zero” campaign, he’s using his platform to emphasize a simple yet often overlooked action. Wearing a seatbelt does indeed save lives. With the NASCAR Cup Series stopping in Kansas, the campaign reaches thousands of fans who will be hitting the road this weekend.
Wearing Seat Belts Saves Lives
Chastain, who has nine seat belts installed in his car, has seen firsthand the importance of safety measures in motorsports. With cars reaching breakneck speeds and drivers relying on advanced safety features to protect them, Chastain knows that even the most skilled drivers aren’t invincible.
Earlier this year, he visited a high school in Tennessee to talk about the dangers of driving drunk. That event was in collaboration with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
“We could probably talk about some of these simple things like wearing your seatbelt,” Chastain on April 11, via WCYB News. “Most people should and I think most everyone knows you should these days but some people still don’t and that is severely impacting your chances of walking away from a crash as well as not driving impaired or distracted.”

The 2025 AdventHealth 400 is slated for Sunday, May 11 at 3 p.m. at Kansas Speedway. The single-lap, single-round format will bring drama, and fans will be on the edge of their seats. But Chastain’s message will still linger, reminding fans that safety comes first, no matter how fast the cars go.
