The incident unfolded with just a few laps remaining. The part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver and Hendrick Motorsports development star was battling Kofoid for the lead at Eagle Raceway when disaster struck.
Running the high line, Day’s wheels clipped the outside railing, sending his sprint car airborne and into a violent series of flips. The car finally came to a stop after slamming into the catch fence. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but Day emerged on his own, drawing loud cheers from fans.

A NASCAR insider reported the news on X shortly after the incident, saying, “Spectacularly wild crash for Corey Day, who was battling Buddy Kofoid for the lead at Eagle Raceway in High Limits tonight. Thankfully, he walked away.”
Though shaken, the California native was unharmed. It was a massive relief for his sprint car team and NASCAR supporters. His ability to walk away unscathed proves his resilience as one of NASCAR’s and Hendrick’s upcoming young, resilient drivers.
In a post-race interview, Day assured fans that he was alright. “Yeah, I’m all good. Just trying really hard there. I think when I got into Buddy, my front end was messed, got high off of two, and felt like I couldn’t turn as good as I could like for the whole race before.”
Day recently signed a development deal with Hendrick Motorsports and has been climbing the stock car ranks while continuing to hone his craft in open-wheel dirt racing.
Day’s crash comes one week after another big wreck for Hendrick Motorsports, this time involving Kyle Larson. During a World of Outlaws race at Plymouth, Larson ended up in the catch fence after violently flipping his car.
While Day’s Tuesday wreck was a stark reminder of the ever-present danger in dirt track racing, it’s also a testament to how far safety has come in motorsports.
