On Wednesday, NASCAR Cup Series champion and RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski paid a visit to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, taking part in a special event honoring the U.S. Navy’s formidable undersea war machines.
Brad Keselowski Pays Homage to the U.S. Navy; Unveils New Livery
Last week’s Cup Series venture at Texas Motor Speedway didn’t end as Keselowski expected. With 20 laps to the checkered flag, the 41-year-old’s No. 6 Ford got out of the groove and spun out.
The veteran Cup regular was 12th when things went south. While most of the field avoided the out-of-control RFK Racing, Keselowski, two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, and Cole Custer slid into the side of Keselowski’s car. This ended in a dismal result for the 41-year-old, who collected nine points from a P28 result.
Despite the awry fallout to his run at Texas Motor Speedway, the veteran made a meaningful visit to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. Keselowski’s time at the facility included a tour of the base’s facilities, time spent with active-duty sailors, and the civilian workforce.
The visit also served as the official unveiling of a patriotic paint scheme for the No. 6 BuildSubmarines.com RFK Racing Ford Mustang. The custom livery showcases bold red, white, and blue elements inspired by the silent service, honoring the men and women of the Navy’s submarine fleet.
It also promotes the BuildSubmarines.com platform, which aims to recruit, educate, and train the skilled workforce necessary to build and sustain the nation’s undersea machines.
Stoked to share the moment, the veteran took to social media with a post. He captioned it, “Honored to visit Naval Submarine Base King’s Bay and tour the USS Wyoming this week with our partner @BuildSubmarines. The dedication and professionalism of our Navy crew is nothing short of inspiring. A once-in-a-lifetime experience I won’t forget!”
The event was part of a collaborative initiative between RFK Racing, the U.S. Navy, and BFA (Blue Forge Alliance) in support of a national campaign to accelerate the revitalization of the maritime industry.
During his visit, the 41-year-old met with the leaders from Submarine Group Ten before touring the Trident Refit Facility. Furthermore, he visited key work areas, including the Hull shop and Refit Wharf.
The No. 6 Ford’s special livery will be more than just a patriotic design; it will carry the pride of the indomitable spirit of the U.S. Navy when it hits the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Memorial Day weekend.
