NASCAR Stirs the Pot by Parking Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Together at Michigan

If you recall, the Nashville Superspeedway weekend wasn’t one without drama. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was furious at Carson Hocevar. And ironically, for the upcoming Cup Series race at the Michigan International Speedway, they are sharing the same garage stall.

So, entering the Nashville race, Stenhouse Jr. was on a roll. Ahead of the race, he had four consecutive top 20 finishes, out of which three were P12 or better. Thanks to all the points accumulated, he was sitting comfy in 13th place in the points standings.

However, Hocevar wrecked him early on in the Nashville race, getting him a P39 finish. And the last-place finish had him drop below the provisional cutoff line for the playoffs. Naturally, the Hyak Motorsports driver was mad. Now, thanks to that finish, Stenhouse Jr’s  #47 car would be parked right next to the #77 at Michigan.

Why Are Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr Sharing a Stall?

Recently, NASCAR Journalist Dustin Long shared this update. In the X post, he wrote, “Of course this is how it would be in #NASCAR with the 77 and 47 next to each other in points, the cars of Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. share a garage stall at Michigan.”

When Stenhouse Jr. finished last in Michigan, he was dropped from 13th place in the points table to 18th. However, on the other hand, Hocevar managed to bag a P2 finish behind race winner Ryan Blaney. Thanks to this, the Spire Motorsports driver climbed from 22nd to 17th.

Since the garage stalls are assigned based on points standings, this is how the two drivers have ended up. But this should not be a problem. The two, who weren’t on the best of terms after Nashville, seem to have resolved things. Hocevar called up Stenhouse Jr., explaining what unfolded, and the #47 driver has forgiven him.

Stenhouse Jr. had an interview with Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, where he said, “After Carson called me this week, I definitely see where he was thinking that he could get to the inside of me before we turned down in the corner. Problem was he didn’t. He had committed thinking he was going to, and unfortunately, he just misjudged it and ran right into the back of us… I appreciate him reaching out and explaining what his thought process was.”

This is surprising since Stenhouse Jr. isn’t one to let go of things easily. Remember when Kyle Busch wrecked him out of the All-Star race last season? As Busch explained his side of the story, Stenhouse Jr. threw a right cross at his face. But with Hocevar, he’s let things go despite how it has affected his points standing, and maybe even his playoff chances.

Well, for now, most likely we won’t see any retaliation in the upcoming races from Stenhouse Jr.
