NASCAR Cup at Kansas: Practice and Qualifying Order for the 2025 AdventHealth 400

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the 2025 AdventHealth 400. Qualifying will shape the grid for one of the season’s most anticipated intermediate track battles. On May 10, a single-lap, single-round format will determine starting positions, using a metric blending recent performance and owner points.

Notably, part-time drivers Corey Heim and Jesse Love will kick off qualifying in open entries, while recent winners Joey Logano and Kyle Larson face an uphill climb from the back of the order.

The qualifying lineup, determined by a formula weighing 70% previous race finish and 30% owner points, places Heim and Love at the front of Group 1.

Group 1 features a mix of veterans and rising talent. Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Toyota) will rev his engines for the qualifying lap in ninth position, while Shane van Gisbergen, the Trackhouse Racing driver, rolls off 10th in the No. 88 Chevrolet. 2024 Kansas spring race pole winner Christopher Bell starts 34th in Group 2, highlighting the metric’s emphasis on recent results.

Group 2 includes heavy hitters like Kyle Larson (No. 5 Chevrolet) and Joey Logano (No. 22 Ford), who anchor the order due to their strong finishes at Texas. Larson, the 2021 Cup champion, enters with the lowest metric score (3.4) after a fourth-place Texas run.

NASCAR’s Weekend Schedule Sets Stage for High-Speed Drama

Practice begins Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET on Prime Video, followed by qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The session offers teams critical track time to dial in setups for Kansas’ abrasive 1.5-mile surface. Sunday’s 267-lap race (3 p.m. ET, FS1) features three stages (80-85-102 laps) and a forecast of 79°F with minimal rain chance.

Last year’s spring race saw Kyle Larson edge Chris Buescher by 0.001 seconds, the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history. Buescher, starting 24th in the No. 17 Ford, seeks redemption at his home track.
