NASCAR Cup at Martinsville Final Results: Denny Hamlin Holds Off Christopher Bell To Pick Up His 55th Career Victory

After Saturday’s wreck-fest, Martinsville Speedway hosted a much cleaner but equally thrilling NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday, with Denny Hamlin claiming his 55th career victory, tying Rusty Wallace on the all-time wins list.

Hamlin had been searching for a win since the 2024 Dover weekend and came close earlier this season at Phoenix. This time, the wait paid off, as he dominated at Martinsville, leading 274 laps and securing a stage victory. His performance earned him 54 points for the weekend.

Christopher Bell, who started from the pole, battled to a second-place finish, while Bubba Wallace took third, marking his second straight top-three result after Homestead. It’s the first time in Wallace’s Cup career he has posted consecutive top-three finishes. Chase Elliott finished fourth, followed by Homestead winner Kyle Larson in fifth.

Bell led the first 23 laps before Joey Logano took over and won Stage 1, his second stage victory of the season. But as the race unfolded, cautions caused by Ty Gibbs and Shane van Gisbergen allowed Hamlin to take the lead, a lead he never gave up.

While Hamlin celebrated his sixth Martinsville win, Austin Cindric and Josh Berry had a rough day, both forced to retire due to battery issues. Berry’s setback was especially painful, as he was in contention to win Stage 1 before his dashboard went black, sending him to the garage.

Elsewhere, Ty Gibbs and Tyler Reddick tangled on track, costing Gibbs a shot at his first top-10 finish of the season. Gibbs was furious on the radio after the spin, but the two drivers later resolved the issue post-race.
