Seeing multiple racers from the same family thriving in NASCAR has become increasingly common over the years. One such family that has been a highly respectable name in the sport is the Truex family. Starting with Martin Truex Sr., the family has had a handful of other racers, including Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Truex.
On paper, Martin Jr. is the most accomplished driver in the family, with 34 Cup wins and a championship to his name. His brother Ryan, too, was a formidable opponent on the track with his talent.
Though the 33-year-old has not raced full-time in NASCAR since 2021, he has driven part-time and has had some success. In the latest development in his career, he is about to return for the Xfinity race at Dover.
Ryan Truex’s Return to the Xfinity Series for the Dover Motor Speedway Race
While Ryan has found considerable success in the NASCAR circuit, some tracks have been favorable to the driver than others. For instance, the Dover Motor Speedway in Delaware is one of Ryan’s favorite tracks.
After clinching two Xfinity victories on the track in 2023 and 2024, he announced his return for the Xfinity contest at Dover for the third year. He will drive the No. 24 Supra for Sam Hunt Racing in the Monster Mile After Dark and will be sponsored by the New Jersey State Police Department.
Following the announcement, the team owner, Sam Hunt, expressed his excitement by praising Ryan’s skill. He said, “It’s always fun to have Ryan behind the wheel at SHR. He brings so much experience, knowledge, and past success to the table, especially at Dover. He understands where SHR is as a team and wants to help everyone continue to improve.”
Hunt also thanked the sponsors for making it all possible. He added, “We couldn’t be doing this without our partners at New Jersey State Police, and are all excited to get to work at the Monster Mile.”
Don’t worry, he’s right here. 😎

Having already arrived in the victory lane at Dover twice, Ryan will be one of the favorites to win the contest and will surely be eyeing a triple feat.
The Rocky NASCAR Career of Martin Truex Jr.’s Brother, Ryan
Despite hailing from a family of racers and displaying raw talent behind the wheel, Ryan’s career never reached its full potential. Although there were a handful of reasons for this, one of the primary factors was the lack of sponsorships.
Besides, by the time Ryan peaked in terms of driving skills, he could not find a firm footing with a team. However, throughout his rocky career, he has impressed fans with his runs on more than a handful of occasions.
Though Ryan has not run a full-time season since 2021, the current season has been rather fruitful for the driver. He started with Sam Hunt Racing in the Xfinity season opener at Daytona and came in 17th in his No. 24 Toyota.
Along with this, he is also a replacement driver for Denny Hamlin at Joe Gibbs Racing and drove the No. 11 Toyota in Hamlin’s stead for NASCAR’s Mexico City outing.
