Kyle Larson Takes Charge In Huge NASCAR Stat After Bristol Supremacy

If you’re a Kyle Larson fan, this past weekend at Bristol probably felt like watching your favourite superhero take flight. What Larson pulled off was nothing short of domination—and not just in one race, but across two different series. While the triple sweep narrowly escaped his grasp, what he left behind was a serious statement for the rest of the field.

    Kyle Larson’s Bristol Blitz

Larson didn’t just win the Cup Series race at Bristol—he owned it. He led 411 out of 500 laps, dominating the field in a way we rarely see in NASCAR anymore. That’s over 80% of the entire race, where every other driver might as well have been chasing his shadow. It was his third career win at The Last Great Colosseum, and it looked effortless.

Larson also hopped into the Xfinity Series race and bagged the win there, proving he can wheel just about anything. He wanted to embarrass the Xfinity field, which he even admitted to. The only place he fell short was the Craftsman Truck Series race, where he finished second. So close to pulling off a rare triple sweep, but two out of three definitely isn’t bad—especially with the way he crushed it in the Cup race.

After that wild weekend, the NASCAR Insights page on X dropped a unique new stat that gave Larson fans even more to cheer about. Since the introduction of the NextGen car in 2022, he now leads the pack in top-2 finishes, with a whopping 23 of them under his belt. That’s more than anyone else—including Denny Hamlin, who’s right behind with 20. William Byron and Tyler Reddick follow close behind, but Larson’s sitting pretty at the top.

It’s kind of funny because Larson has been openly critical about the NextGen car. He even admitted sometime last month, “I think if we would still have the 2021 car, I would have about 50 Cup wins right now.” But even with his gripes, the guy just keeps winning. In 2022, he won three races, four more in 2023. And in 2024, a series-best six wins. He’s already got two wins in 2025, and it’s only April.

    A Racer Built Different

There’s something about Larson. Whether it’s Gen-6 or Gen-7, give him a steering wheel and he’ll find a way to make magic happen. His adaptability and raw talent shine every time he hits the track. After his Homestead win, he said this about pushing himself in the NextGen car: “Yeah, they’re difficult cars to drive. You have to run really hard, and I think that probably benefits a guy like myself.”

Bristol might be in the rearview, but the message was clear—Larson isn’t slowing down. And with Hamlin breathing down his neck in the stats race, things are only going to get more intense.
