Kyle Larson’s No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado was buried in 23rd place at Homestead-Miami Speedway until his epic comeback. The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, competing in the first leg of a tripleheader weekend, spun mid-race, dropped to the rear, and then staged a relentless charge to steal the Truck Series victory.
Larson’s win, his fourth in just 16 Truck starts, defied logic. He battled past dominant polesitter Corey Heim and rising star Layne Riggs in the final laps, taking advantage of Heim’s mechanical heartbreak to ignite his weekend sweep bid.
Kyle Larson’s Wall-Riding Masterclass Seals Homestead Comeback
Larson’s night nearly unraveled on Lap 89. Contact with Riggs sent his truck spinning into Turn 2, flattening tires and dropping him outside the top 20. But the 2021 Cup champion channeled his dirt-track instincts, steering into a 360-degree spin without hitting the wall, like he was in a sprint car.
The setback only fueled his resolve. Larson clawed back, riding Homestead’s abrasive high line to slice through traffic. With seven laps left, he sat in fifth with a gap of 3.1 seconds to the leader Heim. Then Heim’s truck began shutting off intermittently, its dashboard flickering black. Larson pounced, speeding up from fifth to first in seven laps.

“That was pretty unbelievable,” Larson admitted. “Wasn’t exactly sure if I could get back up there, didn’t have the restart that I wanted, kinda took a little bit too long to start picking them off, and just got rippin’ the wall.”
Larson’s final pass on Riggs with two laps left sealed the victory. One done, two more to go for Larson to complete the weekend tripleheader.
Homestead-Miami Triumph and Fan Frenzy Fuel Historic Tripleheader Sweep Bid
Social media exploded as Larson celebrated with his son Owen in victory lane.
“Kyle Larson is the ultimate racer,” one fan tweeted, while others compared his drive to Dale Earnhardt’s legendary Talladega charges. “kyle larson u f****** beast,” another wrote.
This Kyle Larson kid is gonna be good. Haha. That was crazy. Shades of Earnhardt's charge at Talladega.

“That was pretty unbelievable from my seat,” Larson said, grinning. The win keeps his weekend sweep hopes alive, though he downplayed expectations.
“I felt like the Truck race was probably going to be the toughest to win. I feel better about Xfinity and Cup, but the competition just gets tougher and tougher as you get on into the weekend. We’ll see, but off to a good start, so we’ll try.”

Riggs, who held second, earned praise for battling Larson toe-to-toe. Tyler Ankrum and Daniel Hemric rounded out the top five in a race featuring 10 lead changes. Ross Chastain faded to a sixth-place finish despite leading 33 laps.
As Larson eyes the Xfinity race next, followed by the Cup event, his Homestead heroics have already etched another chapter in his legacy. For Heim, the points leader, Martinsville offers redemption. But the Truck race belonged to Larson, a driver who turned chaos into conquest, one wall-scraping lap at a time.
