Kyle Larson is heading into Texas Motor Speedway with confidence and momentum as he chases his third NASCAR Cup Series win of the 2025 season. He’s currently second in the Cup Series standings, and with strong recent performances and a solid track record at Texas, he’s in a great spot to make another run at Victory Lane in the Würth 400.
Kyle Larson Looks To Continue Texas Hot Streak
Larson has good reason to feel confident in Texas. Recently, he jumped into the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet as a substitute driver for the injured Connor Zilisch in the Xfinity Series race. Despite starting from the back twice, he charged from seventh to first in double overtime to grab the win.
“I’m excited to get there and hopefully we have the speed that we’ve had there the last few years,” Larson told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio in a recent interview.
“It was a lot of survival, I felt like, in that race. I got in some wrecks, the balance we had to work on quite a bit. So, it was fun. I felt like if I could ever get the lead, I could stretch it out,” Larson said about his Xfinity win.
In the Cup Series, Larson owns a dominant win at Texas from 2021 and has always been strong on intermediate tracks. That history, paired with the speed Hendrick Motorsports brings to the table, gives him every reason to believe he can get another win this weekend.

Larson’s 2025 season has been hot. He scored his 30th career Cup Series win at Homestead and followed it up with a dominant showing at Bristol, leading 462 laps to beat Denny Hamlin for win No. 31. Those big runs have kept him near the top of the standings all season.
Larson credits a lot of his success to the strength of his Hendrick Motorsports team and their ability to adjust. Crew chief Cliff Daniels and the No. 5 crew have been giving him fast cars and smart race-day calls all year.
“We have the speed,” Larson said simply, summing up why he believes another win is within reach (starting fourth on the grid at Texas). With momentum on his side from both his Cup success and recent Texas Xfinity win, Larson is looking to add another trophy to his collection as he chases a second championship.
