Katherine Legge Quietly Holds Rare NASCAR Edge Ahead of Texas Xfinity Weekend

British racing standout, Katherine Legge, returns to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 3 for the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300, suiting up once again in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series.

As the NASCAR spotlight shifts from the unpredictability of Talladega Superspeedway to the intermediate track in Fort Worth, the 44-year-old is bringing her wealth of IndyCar experience to NASCAR, unsuspectingly, perhaps.

A Cut Above the Rest: Katherine Legge’s Impressive Texas Stat Revealed

Having competed in various racing circles like IndyCar, IMSA Sportscar championship, and the famed Formula E, Legge’s journey through professional motorsports is nothing short of remarkable. In fact, she has acquired an ocean of experience that only a few in the Xfinity Series can match.

But the driver hasn’t had that level of success in Stock Car racing. Not yet. What sets the 44-year-old apart is not just her experience on the track but her overall approach to racing. As a matter of fact, she is known for meticulous preparation and adaptability.

Recently, the popular NASCAR account nascarman shared a post, highlighting the veteran driver’s stellar stat at Texas. According to the post, in 2012, Legge qualified for the IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway with an average speed of 210.543 mph.

Now, that’s not just raw speed, that’s true racing prowess.

Although Indy cars are more nimble and faster than Xfinity racers, Legge has been around the 1.5-mile quad oval faster than anyone else entered in the Xfinity race. After a rather untimely exit from the European Le Mans Series, Legge shifted her focus to NASCAR.

While participating in the pre-race testing at Circuit Paul Ricard ahead of the European Le Mans Series in 2020, Legge suffered a broken wrist and leg in a crash. She was part of Richard Mille Racing’s all-female team, sharing the seat with Sophia Flörsch and Tatiana Calderón.

As for her NASCAR performance, she made her first NXS start at NASCAR’s Rockingham revival on April 19 when she teamed up with e.l.f. Cosmetics. Following her debut earlier this year at Phoenix Raceway, Legge became the eighth woman in the modern NASCAR era to compete in its Cup Series fixtures and the first since Danica Patrick in 2018.

For Saturday’s fixture, she will feature a new paint scheme in honor of the upcoming Cinco de Mayo holiday. Her No. 32 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet will be adorned by Desnuda Tequila livery. The featured color scheme offers a darker shade of green as the primary color, offset by a neat leaf pattern in a much lighter shade, symbolically representing that she’s turning a new leaf in her storied racing career.
