Joey Logano Gets Surprise Boost in Kyle Busch’s Latest NASCAR Championship Sketch

‘Back to the Future’ is one of the biggest movies in Hollywood history. Naturally, the cult classic has been parodied many times.

While several famous names and entities have been involved in these parodies before, this time, it is NASCAR. In its latest promotional video, NASCAR adopted a ‘Back to the Future’ setting with Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski in the star cast.

Set in 2019, Busch and Keselowski mimic the plot of the film with NASCAR references that lead to a primary announcement. The two even fired shots as Denny Hamlin, who is long awaiting his first Championship title. Later in the video, the duo hilariously targeted Team Penske star Joey Logano for his achievements.

NASCAR Championship Weekend Returns to Homestead Miami

Homestead-Miami is one of the most famous and iconic tracks in NASCAR and has hosted some of the most thrilling races for more than 25 years.

Although the first race on the track was in 1999, the Championship Weekend in Homestead-Miami started in 2002. The tradition stayed intact until 2019, when it was the final race of the season.

The main reason behind choosing Homestead-Miami was the neutrality that the track offered. A 1.5-mile track, it was the perfect balance between superspeedways and short tracks.

In the very first year of ‘The Chase’, Kurt Busch won on the track as he pulled a dramatic comeback after losing a tire halfway in the race.

The 2011 battle between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards was another example of thrilling competition at Homestead-Miami. Similarly, Jimmie Johnson’s 7th championship win in 2016 was another iconic moment on the track.

In 2020, NASCAR decided to move the championship weekend to Phoenix. The main reason behind this was to give the competition a fresh twist and elevate the level by a notch. The decision polarized audiences and drivers alike. Many still missed the final race in Homestead-Miami and frequently called for its return.

Finally, on May 6, NASCAR announced the return of the final race to Homestead-Miami in the 2026 season. And the much-awaited announcement certainly had a cinematic element to it.

Kyle Busch’s Jab at Joey Logano

In the promotional video, right after Busch won his second championship title in Homestead-Miami, he met Keselowski in a parking lot where the RFK Racing driver stood next to a covered DMC DeLorean.

After Keselowski convinced Busch to get in the car, Busch quickly made a round trip from the future. Upon returning, he was draped in a Richard Childress Racing shirt.

When it was confirmed that Keselowski indeed had his own racing team, Busch pulled out a newspaper where the headline read, ‘NASCAR Championship Returns to Homestead-Miami in 2026.’

The two confirmed the return of the championship weekend to Homestead-Miami, and Keselowski then asked Busch what else the newspaper from the future says. To which he replied, “Joey Logano, three-time champion?”

Following this, in unison, they said, “We gotta stop this!”

Logano currently has three championship titles and is one of the fan favorites. After a rocky start this season, he seems to be on an upward trajectory after his most recent win at Texas.
