While there are several drivers in NASCAR who are infamous for their generous use of cuss words, Joey Logano of Team Penske does not usually make it to that list. Although Logano finds himself caught up in controversies, they are seldom born out of the racer’s excessive swearing. However, things changed up a bit after his Talladega outing.
Logano made headlines after he bashed teammate Austin Cindric on the radio after Stage 2 of the race. The racers became the talk of the town with their actions polarizing the onlookers.
When he appeared on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s ‘Dale Jr. Download,’ he opened up about the incident and its aftermath. Along with this, he also revealed why he is usually careful with his words on the car’s radio.
Joey Logano Watches His Mouth For A Hilarious Reason
As the No. 22 driver appeared on the podcast, Junior pulled his leg about his rant during the Talladega race. He also confessed being unaware of Logano’s ability to swear and compared it to the time when he had the same revelation with Bob Saget.
Then the three-time champion explained his side of the story.
“I really, really like to win,” Logano said. “And I want things to go a certain way. I work really hard to make sure it does and when it doesn’t, I get pissed off and the filter thing is still not there and whatever is in my mind comes straight out of the mouth.”

Junior then spoke about his childhood when he was around Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his buddies. He mentioned NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, who was infamous for his frequent usage of the F-word.
Following this, Junior confessed to having a bit of a foul mouth himself when he is not at home. Dale Jr.’s co-host, TJ Majors, then asked Logano, “When’s the last time you got in trouble for cussing?”
To which, he replied, “I don’t know. I mean, did I get in trouble this time?” before they burst out laughing.
Logano further added that he had become quite conscious when speaking on the radio lately, and fatherhood was the main reason behind it.
“I feel like I’m pretty conscious of it most of the time. I don’t really have a reason most of the time. And I got kids now, so I try to be my best.”
The Team Penske starboy also revealed that while his outburst was on TV, his kids were watching the race too.
“My wife told me, ‘You know when that all happened, the kids were at MRO, watching TV.'”
Junior then brought up Logano’s online feud with former Atlanta Braves baseman Chipper Jones, which was triggered after his radio rant.
When Logano won at Texas, he was wearing a Braves hat in the victory lane. Junior asked him if it was planned. Logano confessed that it was a spontaneous idea and that the hat did not belong to him.
“No. It was an idea in Victory Lane. I was like, ‘Oh man, we should get a picture with a Braves hat on and just send it to Chipper.'”
After Logano’s win, the two called for a truce and amicably resolved their beef.
