‘Burn It to the Ground’ — Furious Fans Turn On NASCAR After Years of Continued Mistreatment

NASCAR is facing an emotional revolt from within its own community as years of growing frustration have erupted into open hostility amid the ongoing antitrust lawsuit.

With explosive and derogatory private texts, internal strategies, and confidential business maneuvers now surfacing in court, fans who once stood firmly behind the sport are questioning whether NASCAR, as it currently exists, deserves to survive at all.

Years of Frustration Explode Into Calls for NASCAR’s Collapse and Reinvention

This wave of anger comes at a time when NASCAR is already under immense pressure. The antitrust lawsuit has revealed explosive internal texts, including controversial clauses such as the “goodwill” and “sanction” provisions, as well as behind-the-scenes tactics aimed at protecting the organization’s dominance.

These revelations have amplified fans’ long-standing grievances, turning simmering frustration into outright rebellion. One fan, who has followed the sport for nearly five decades, summed up the growing rage bluntly, saying, “As a fan of 48 years, burn it to the ground! Worst case scenario, we still have short tracks.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying the sport’s treatment of its most loyal followers and teams has driven them past the breaking point.

“I’m going to tell you straight up, I’ve gotten tired of them talking down to the fan base and treating the teams like s***. Whatever they get they get. Nature detests a void. If they disappear, something will take its place. Probably better, because it wouldn’t take much at this point,” the fan said.

The disconnect between NASCAR and its supporters is deepening, with a fan admitting they no longer care whether the sport survives, “To be honest, after how shitty they have treated us fans over the last few years….. I hate to say it but I could care less about the sport. I hope they win! And I don’t care if it ruins Nascar as a sport! Thats how I feel as a fan of 17 years feels.”

Some pointed to the industry’s long-standing financial struggles. One fan argued that the current turmoil is the result of years of neglect and exploitation.

The fan said, “I don’t give a s*** if I ever watch another nascar race. I was tired of watching team owners go bankrupt more than a decade ago. The France family has used and abused people for long enough. They have literally filled their family coffers off the backs off others.”

For others, the problem lies in the sport’s on-track product and leadership direction. A viewer explained, “1) Wallace has always been an a** kissing shill. 2) When you’re driving a sport into the ground, sometimes you need to be stopped to lessen the damage. 3) What core? Bad racing, bad cars, bad attendance, bad TV numbers, bad playoff format? That’s what you want to save??”

Fans’ strong reactions came amid the intense antitrust case, where many fans are rooting for 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports and celebrating the pressure being placed on NASCAR. But Kenny Wallace recently urged caution.

Wallace warned that if the teams refuse to settle and push for a total legal victory, fans must be prepared for the possibility that the outcome could “tear the sport down.” He questioned whether people cheering for NASCAR’s downfall truly understand what it means to dismantle the sanctioning body that anchors the entire ecosystem, tracks, TV deals, manufacturers, and team viability.

However, for many, the institution they once loved has not just stumbled; it has betrayed their loyalty, and they now want it gone.
