Dale Earnhardt Jr. treated NASCAR fans to a sneak peek into the playful side of his relationship with his wife Amy on the latest episode of their podcast “Bless Your Hardt.” On the podcast produced by Earnhardt’s Dirty Mo Media, the couple answers fun hypothetical questions while sipping a cocktail.
In the latest episode of their podcast, Amy and Dale unveiled their new “Cocktail of the Day,” presented by High Rock Vodka, and discussed a hot topic: Is time travel real? Dale also recapped his day spent with Cleetus McFarland in Talladega, Ala., which involved him driving the Dale truck.

During the podcast, Amy casually asked her husband, “If you could travel in time, where would you go? You get one moment and you get to be there for spend 24 hours.”
Without a moment’s hesitation Dale responded that he’d go back to the 1979 Daytona 500, the race that launched NASCAR into the national spotlight and featured the infamous fight between Cale Yarborough and the Allison brothers, “Damn right, I’m going back to the 1979 Daytona 500,” Dale said.
When Amy asked Dale why he wouldn’t pick something more unique, something he hadn’t already seen on video, he turned the question around and asked her where she would go. Amy didn’t hesitate either, “I want to go to the ’69 Comeback Special and watch Elvis perform.”
Dale happily clapped his hands and agreed, saying, “Oh, I love that. That’s a great one.”
Dale’s choice spoke volumes about his deep love for the sport and its legacy. The 1979 Daytona 500 was not only a historic race, it was also the first 500-mile race his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., then a rookie, ever attempted to qualify for, which made the moment extra special for “Junior.”
The 1979 Great American Race is arguably the most famous race in the history of NASCAR. Despite the controversial wreck followed by the fight between Cale Yarborough, Donnie Allison, and Bobby Allison, the race and the fight actually put NASCAR on the map.
The clip quickly gained traction online, with fans taking sides and sharing their own moments to revisit. Partly agreeing with Dale, one fan said, “I’m with @DaleJr but I’d want to see the 2001 Pepsi 400 and be in the stands during those last 10 laps that would be really cool.”
Another fan sharing Amy’s love for Elvis replied, “Oh my. I’m with Amy. Elvis in the black leather suit. Wow.”
