The crossover conversation started when 2021 NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson boldly claimed his superiority over Verstappen in various racing disciplines. This, however, sparked a debate among fans about whether the Red Bull ace could excel outside of open-wheel racing.
Earlier this year, Earnhardt partnered with Hard Rock Cafe, a famed restaurant chain that made headlines recently for its collaboration with Red Bull. As a result, both Earnhardt and his wife Amy were invited to Formula One’s Miami GP.
Note that this was the 50-year-old’s first time at an F1 event. At the Miami International Autodrome, he met with Verstappen, a four-time F1 champion. The two racers then posed for a photo, pushing the fandom into a wild speculation spree.
One ardent poked fun, noting, “They know each other, I have it on good authority.” Whereas another fan urged “Junior” to get the 27-year-old standout an Xfinity ride in his JRM Chevy – “Now @DaleJr, get my dutchman a ride in Xfinity.”
Another X user seemed stoked to hear Earnhardt’s thoughts about the Dutchman on his  popular Dale Jr. Download podcast. He wrote, “looking forward to hear Dale’s thoughts in dales download.”
“We need the crossover,” noted another fan, wishing to see the Formula 1 champion in Earhardt’s Bojangles studio, while another user demanded an unlikely October collaboration– “I need Dale x Max at Talladega in October.”
Although the Dutchman’s NASCAR cameo seems uncertain, his fellow drivers like Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri have shown interest in testing the waters of stock car racing.
Will we see Verstappen burning rubber on the oval track of NASCAR? Well, only time will tell.
