‘They Don’t Like Me’ – Connor Zilisch Pokes Fun at Sammy Smith’s NASCAR Veteran Worship

Although NASCAR is not technically a team sport, there is a lot of teamwork that goes into pulling off fine performances. While mainly the crew of the particular driver and the general team staff put in the actual teamwork, even drivers in the same team have a role to play.

In instances like drafting, position blocking, and team strategy implementation, teammates often have to look out for more than themselves. That said, ultimately, every driver on the track is on their own, even if two or more drivers run for the same team.

JR Motorsports, as a team, has often put forth a fine example of camaraderie both on and off the track. In a recent fun team video by JR Motorsports, Connor Zilisch‘s hilarious personality took a hilarious jab at teammates Sammy Smith and Justin Allgaier.

The video titled ‘All love from our squad’ started with an opening shot of Zilisch in his JR Motorsports uniform. In the video, the drivers were asked to say something nice about one of their teammates.

Zilisch began by saying, “Um, that’s tough,” followed by Smith praising team veteran Allgaier, who was always there for him. He said, “Anytime I have a question, I can go to him and ask him anything. So he’s always there for me.”

Carson Kvapil, who was up next, slyly dodged the question and spoke about the time when he and Smith raced late models in North Wilkesboro.

In the next shot, it was Zilisch again, wondering if any of his teammates had said something nice about him. Upon learning that they hadn’t, he added, “Well, I’ll go with Justin too, then, because clearly they don’t like me.”

He mentioned Allgaier was always there for him. Zilisch, then, in his typical sarcastic humor, pointed out Allgaier’s veteran status and said, “He is past the days of being too competitive to help his teammates.”

In the end, Allgaier finally had the camera pointed towards him. The No. 7 driver was happy to learn all the nice things his fellow JRM drivers had said about him and confessed to having lots of fun with the team.

About the question of saying something nice, Allgaier picked Smith and complimented his style: “I’m gonna say something nice about Sammy, only because he’s the most tenured in this group. [Smith] Definitely has great style, and it’s something that I can emulate.”

As for the current season performance of JR Motorsports drivers, Allgaier has 2 wins and eight top 5 finishes and sits atop the table with 470 points. Next is Kvapil, who, despite having no wins so far in his rookie season, has a couple of top 5 spots and the 6th overall spot.

Smith has one win thus far and ranks 9th with 312 points. Lastly, Zilisch has one win in 11 starts and sits 12th in the overall driver position.
